The difference between horse shampoo and human shampoo?

Not a lot around here. We all use the same.

I buy it for the house and some child removes it for the horse.

Today she asks me if I am going to the shop. "Why?" We are out of shampoo.

"Oh well, just use some it that you have in the tack room".

"What????" But that is for the horses!!!!!"

I did have to remind her it started out as MY shampoo.

I went shopping for my horse.. got him a clear rinse (on sale for $.99 USD!). I was dying to get him the lavender-scented shampoo, but my trainer told me, 'You'll have every fly in town on him!'

LOL
I use a very gentle conditioner (human) on the tails before shows, and have used horse shampoo in the past. Leaves your hair a bit dry tho

Gotta becareful for people shampoo on dogs and espec horses, as they are much more sensitive to the chemicals that are in ours.

I think the horse and dog shampoos are more gentle than human ones. I use human baby shampoo on my horse all the time, though. It smells good. :P

Suave is in our grooming tote...highly recommended by the local horsie crowd. Both the shampoo and conditioner. Interestingly, you can also buy Mane and Tail in one of the local mega pharmacy stores, too...for a lot less than the tack shops want.

I have a dear friend who is a Hair Dresser *lol...I origionally spelt dressager* but anyways, she owns her own salon and I have a funny story.......well, funny to me....lol.

I had no shampoo at the house, so I used what I use on dogs I groom *Polmolive Shampoo mixed with cold water*

So I thought it did it's job. I told my friend who came into the restaurant I work at, to have dinner with her family. She told me that I should of gone to her first, because I just stripped my whole hair that contained all the important nutrients for it to be healthy. *something like that....*

I asked her the difference between store bought shampoo/conditioners and salon bought shampoo/conditioners - and she told me the water content and wax content.

I asked her about the Horse Shampoo/Conditioners and she told me that they are full of wax - beacuse they have to make the coat shiney. Same with Pantene Pro V - full of wax.

Dang..................

So with Human Shampoo/Conditioner and that Main and Tail Equine Shampoo/Conditioner - there is a difference. Wax content and water content.

The Equine has more wax and less water - human has wax and more water.

I use Suave Shampoo and Conditioner on my horse - lol.

I like using THEIR shampoo on my hair... grows faster, and I swear I have less split ends (i have very long hair) .....I can't think of the darn name but it comes in a black bottle with purple or red lettering.... hmm...... losing my mind and memory I guess.

I like using the Pert Plus for the horses.. smells really good and leaves them soft and shiny.

I also use 'no more tangles' in manes and tails....... not as much hair loss, although i don't brush tails much..... they grow better if left alone.

Leave in conditioner for people works wonders on draft type manes that just WONT lay down. I've seen this used...gotta get some for my perch cause his mane is gonna drive me insane.
