Hey PawNHoofPrints I just wanted to let you know that Mane and tail doesn't work that great (you may already know that. ) Buyt I have found out that Dwan dish soap works better, so if you want a cheap alternative you may be better off with that. I have also heard that head and shoulders (for humans) works good too and it doesn't seem to bother horses with sensitive skin. Rider running_ |

"Purple Power" is the best I've found and it's not too expensive.

Kat, My girls won every product made by Shapley's. I am trying the MGT, but is smells like hoof oil and fish mixed in baby oil. It's gastly. All these shampoos, like I posted in another thread, I use whatever is cheap or free.

Biolage (for people) shampoo and conditioner. Paul Mitchell's "The Conditioner" is excellent on manes and tails. This is all we've ever used and would never switch. They work great!

Sunshield is really nice and smells awesome. Despise Mane & Tail and Vetrolin (but it rinses nice!). I'm gonna try either Ultra or Sho-sno from Jeffers. M. |

I've tried several whitening shampoos on my grey Arab, and nothing works as well as very diluted Ivory dish soap. I put about 1/4 cup of soap in the bottle then fill it with water (actually do the water first or it will foam). It rinses out easily and does a great job on stains.

OK I'm curious. It seems some people really like Cowboy Magic and some don't. What do or don't you like? I like it because it stays on the hair, I don't have to keep appling, I can finger comb tail, which helps prevent breakage, lovely shine, doesn't seem to attract dirt like some products. Only caution is when you want to braid must wash out beacuse braids don't hold well with it in. Vet told me anything that works for humans will work for horses. Personally I dilute my own shampoo, so like others have suggested dilute shampoo for horse. Most 'horse' shampoo isn't really special just expensive. Also as said dilute dishsoap works great, esp for very dirty areas, may cause itchiness if not rinsed very well |
