I have a pair of adjustables, but I can pop off the blade and put another one on.

Andis Horse and Cattle Clippers. They're not cheap, but very much worth their price. After clipping with the big clippers, you can go over the horse with either a T-84 blade or a 7F and it will look fantastic! It's what I use on all the show horses we do for clients. If it's not a big horse, you could just use the 7F and T-84, but it will take a lot more time. Just don't use the big clippers on areas like the elbow or any other place that wrinkles. Also avoid using them on the face. There's so much torque, that if used wrong or a horse moves when you're in a tight spot, it would be very easy to cut them.

Ceramic blades are just that. The cutter (the part that moves back and forth) is made from Ceramic, while the comb (bottom, non-moveable part of the blade) is made from steel, or in the case of Klean Kut Blue blades, they're Titanium.

Hmmmm, thanks Acme Acres. So just to clarify, the clippers I'm looking for are just to trim the chin/muzzle/bride path and the hairy parts on the lower legs. No fancy body clipping or anything like that. What pair of Andis clippers would you recomend for that??

I just tested a new clipper here at work (lucky me I get to test and review new horse items and products) They are Laube Brand Speed Feed Clippers, and I have to say that in my opinion (and I am a Andis fan as well) that this clipper is by far the best I have ever used. They sell for $99.00, they have 2 batterys that charge very fast, and yes the blade is adjustable 10/15/30/40 and they snap off as well. I used this clipper hard for a 2 week period. They held a charge for an hour, great thing is that they have 2 batteries so when one runs low you just switch them out and by the time you use that one up the first one is ready to go again.
Here is the description of the clipper.
Cordless
Built in 5 Point Adjustable Blade
Ball Bearing Motor
5 Year Motor Warranty
No Battery Memory
Nickel Metal Hydryde Battery System
Easy to handle, only 7" smal
Weight: 8.6oz (0.24kg)
Speed: 8,500 spms
Steel or Ceramic Blade
Quick EZ Blade Charge
Guaranteed to out perform any other trimmer in its class!!!

Laube's are junk. Honestly! They are not well built clippers. They are cool from the assortment of colors you can get, but all in all, not worth the money you spend.

I have a pair of single speed Andis AG clippers from 10 yrs ago (in fact, the original pair I went to Grooming School with) and they still run awesome, even after being dropped, kicked, stepped on, etc. For the long term investment, you're much better off to get a pair of Andis.

For just "maintenance" clipping, I'd go with a single speed AG or AGC myself. Just can't really go wrong with them and there's nothing to grease internally. As for Cordless, Andis has a Cordless clipper that runs right around $200. Their batteries last an hour and they're very balanced. (I've clipped a 1500 pound halter stallion - as in Body clipping, for a customer when my blade went dull on the big clippers and got him done in just about 3 hours).

If you're wanting something other than Andis, definatly look at Wahl. They're a very good clipper as well and there's several different types, from corded KM2s to cordless Arco to Cord/Cordless Mini Arco, Bravura or the Chromado (the later of the two have a 5 adjustment blade).

They are both great. Yes they cost a bit of money but well worth the investment.
On another note about clipper's, you have to buy the motor driven clippers. The ones you see in wal-mart that are $20 bucks have magneticlly driven blades, and they bog out on the simpliest of jobs. IMO they are not worth it at all.

These are what I have just bought and I highly reccomend them. I body shave my two shih-tzu's 3 times a year and do all my trimming on my 3 horses(face, bridle path, ears and legs.) They are not for body clipping those are totally different)

Guess what? The motor in the Andis is a magnetic motor, difference is they are just geared towards heavier use.

I happen to work for Ryans Pet Supplies and yes, Andis are far superior to Oster in the quality of their clippers. The Super 2 speed pictured above is the fastest clipper Andis has available, but because of that, it will heat up much faster than a single speed. If you want to save yourself from excessive hot blades, go with Ceramic. Not only do they withstand horse hair better, they stay cooler longer. The Super 2s come in Blue and Silver besides the Burgandy

No, I don't get paid based on sales. Im actually a buyer for the company
Ryans... AHHHH I've spent plenty of money with them over the years, gotta LOVE the internet and they're the BEST place to find clipper parts IMO! Even my friends who own 3-C's out of Soap Lake, WA and Cascade Grooming Supply out of Monroe, WA have refered me to Ryan's for clipper parts.

And you're right, I MEANT to say Cool Care.. .Kool Lube isn't a disinfectant although it will lube, clean and cool blades easily while you're using them ...
