TFA (tack freaks anonymous!)

i have a problem and you should too

im obsessed with tack. most of which i will never use. bridles. i have a pink nylon, r/w/b nylon, a showman bridle with star conchos and purple sparkley studs, and an english bridle with a figure 8 and pink rubber reins

i have saddle pads and half pads coming out of my ears, polos in all different colors. bell boots in several colors, random reins, bits, and just about everything else imagineable. i try selling it. but i cant part with it. i love it too much. HA.

so come. admit your tack-freakiness.

... 5 saddles.
4 of which I never use.
And then 18 different kinds of bits. My horse couldn't decide what bit he liked best.. *shrug*

My weakness is definitely bits .... only have one horse but must have three dozen bits, some of which won't even fit him and wouldn't be appropriate for him even if they did!
Confession - sometimes I buy bits on eBay just because they're nifty, even if I have absolutely NO use for them and never will!

And now I'm getting into saddle pads too....

Ah that ain't bad

You should really see my stuff...i have a definate problem At the moment I've got 4 saddles, 9+ bridles, a stack of girths I won't even guess at, 2 milk crates packed to the gills with polo wraps and all sorts of boots, another milk crate of standing wraps and pillows, my saddle pads when neatly stacked create a 3ft pile. And all of that is just what lives in my tack shed! I've got 3 more big show tack trunks stuffed as full as they can be and a cupboard full of blankets and sheets. Oh and did I mention all of this and up until recently I only had 1 horse?!

Heh, this is a great thread.

I have 5 horses, so inherently, I have a HUGE amount of tack--and I do cull it regularly.

Currently, I have:
7 Bridles
4 leather halters
3 rope halters
3 sets of front/rear boots
multiple pairs of bells
extra bits
extra browbands
breastplate
running mart
a mw and hw for each horse
coolers
extra blankets
more saddle pads than I care to admit
half pads
lots of girths (leather, synth, dressage, AP)
2 surcingles
ground driving setup
lunge lines
multiple lunge whips
3 dressage whips

That doesn't include all the grooming, vet and hoof care stuff.

gosh, I need to be a card carrying member of this club. My barn owners ask me every time I show up what I bought this time. It's so sad, I seriously don't mean to do it.... It just kind of happens - I see something that we need or something that would upgrade something that we already have. My husband? He rolls his eyes and shakes his head. I kind of just stopped taking stuff inside the house from the car - I have it delivered at work and then take it straight to the barn. I get real nutty over nice leather, I ooh and aah over it and my co-workers are just confused. I think I might make us up a card so we can print it out and keep it in our wallets right next to the plastic ones that have imprints of the tack stores name on them....... But don't you just love tack?

lol. I wish I had time to tell you about everything I've bought and hardly used. I have a nice dressage girth that I've used once... and don't plan on using again. There's $40 down the drain. lol. And splint boots. Gosh how many of those have I tried? They're either too big to stay on well enough or too small for Crayon to be comfy. I actually prefer the protection and tendon "support" and warming polos give to splint boots. They just take so much more time!
