depends really on the horse, some are rel smart some are stubborn. Most have a pretty even head, depends on how they were raised

I have yet to meet a hot tempered TWH.

They are the most loving, willing, smartest horse. They learn very very quick. They have a flat walk, a running walk and a wonderful rocking chair canter. As far as looking at different ones, make sure they can gait. Because of the breeding and bloodlines their gaits can very from horse to horse. They have Narranganett & Canadian Pacer in them and you can get a TWH that is very pacey. I rode one that would not go into a running walk for her life. It was the roughest ride. She was a sweet horse but I could not seeing buying her.

My dubie glides when he does his running walk but I am working with him to keep him in gait. His canter is awesome. He has very high lift and it's not a fast fast canter.

I don't own a TWH but everyone I ride with does. I would not call them hot tempered just high strung and full of energy (kind of like a TB) When we ride in the woods the TWH seem to spook easier but on the straight road my little QH can't even catch them without a gallop. The ones I ride with are tall and lean 16h or more. They aren't muscled up and bulky but they are smooth and can carry a rider all day. Good Luck!

i've yet to meet a hot tempered OR high strung TWH...full of energy? Yes...controlled energy!!!

They are some of the most steadfast horses i've rode...not much bothers them....i've shot guns from them, had low flying jets go over us while on one, random wildlife run into us or near us....they have all taken it in stride All have been easy to train. Quick to learn.

I have rode the shorter, stockier walkers.
