Talking Teaka's first REAL trail ride!

YAY Teaka finally went for her first real trail ride!
as some as you know, Teaka can be stubbern and wont move when I am riding....Yesterday I was in her riding pasture and she refused to move, I was tapping her bum with a whip too, which supprised me, because until yesterday, the sight of a whip would have her cantering. So me and my friend Jessica went for a ride out of the pasture. Her dad led her on my horse Winnie as she rode bareback, because she hasn't ridden in along time. And I rode Teaka my other horse bareback, only with a bridle. This is the first time we have accually ridden Teaka out of her pastures without a lead. Normally we will just sit on her as someone leads her, because she hates cars. To avoid cars we decided to ride accross the street. first we rode up the road, then turned into a path. and we were in a field of straw, with a path made with a tractor. They loved it! Teaka decided to trot the whole way! which was amazing for her, because she always refuses to trot. Beside us were HUNDREDS of rasberry bushes...they tasted good we continued riding up into a wheat field..and then up a hill to a hay field. (they where really happy there! LOL) and no, I didn't let them eat any of it. Up there we could see the horse farm...which was pretty cool. Then we rode up there somewhat,. and headed home. It was about an hour trial ride, and teaka trotted the whole thing by choice!!! OH and it was pretty, cause we where surrounded by forests..

anyway, I just wanted to share that with you. I AM SO PROUD OF TEAKA! she didn't spook or anything!! although...once she tried trotting back home LOL

I also forgot to mention!! Yesterday they were the best behaved they have ever been!!

Teaka normally paws the ground so much that she digs a hole. SHE DIDN'T PAW ONCE!! (thats a first)

Both Teaka and Winnie didn't kick. (not that they kick at me, I mean at flies)

They stood for a bath!! (normally she runs in circles)

PLUS! they have gotten used to the fly spray bottle!! they stood as I sprayed them! (normaly, I have to use a sponge)

and when a car came by, she hardly spooked at all! she barely moved.

AND Winnie let me catch her in the field soo easily!! (normally she makes me walk up slow, and run in circles)

and Teaka didn't threaten to bite or anything! or put her ears back, or use me as a scratching post.

now that I think about it..Teaka and Winnie have stopped all this this awhile ago, but it just hit me now....she used to bit, kick, and buck....BUT NOT ANYMORE (they are rescues if you are wondering why they had all these problems)

WOOOOOOOT

just had to add that!

I think it's because last week I got mad at there misbehaving, so I worked them for like an hour.

YAY! they are improving so much every week!

That's good news!! Isn't it great when good things happen like this? You work all that time and that hard and it FINALLY shows.

Good Luck with them in the future!

How old are they again?
