Tall Rider = ?

My friend is looking into buying her own saddle (haha me getting mine really got her moving). She pretty tall, shorter then me but only by a few inches. Her legs are really long, especially her thigh. Somehow, she expects me to know EVERYTHING about saddles and fitting and whatnot because I got my own, but i don't. But put together, I have a feeling you HGS'ers do!

So here's my question (well really my friends): Should a rider with a long thigh have a more forward flap or a straighter one? Answers would be helpful by Monday, so that I have something to tell her when she starts bugging me again :]

thanks!

it doesn't matter about how the flap is ... just get a bigger size ... what discipline are you doing?

oh haha sorry I didn't think to clarify..but to tell you the truth, I'm not 100% sure. I know she rides english...and I'm fairly certain she jumps. But again, I'll have to double check. Lets just go with english jumping for now

i would imagine that the only way the flaps would matter would be according to her discipline. she would just need longer stirrups.

well I'm 5'9" and all leg lol definitly get a forward flap and she might also have to get a larger size saddle depending on the brand, as obviously the size of the flap decreases with the seat...I ended up with a forward flap 17 in Bates...

ahh but it does lol if you have a long thigh your knee will pop out in front of the saddle, just because your legs are long doesn't mean you butt could fill up an 18 inch saddle lol

Long legs are definately in need of a forward flap to start with. A bigger seat COULD work, but you don't want a big area for your butt when you need it for your legs.

Let me just say, English saddles come with the option of a LONG FLAP for a reason so it DOES matter. From what I've found generally a 34"+ inseam can take an L2 (Long) flap, and 36+ inseam certainly should have a long flap vs. a standard/regular.

How tall, exactly, is she? What is her inseam? Thinness can masquerade as being tall, so if she's a twig, that can fool you
