Question Tall boot fit *New pics

If I take a picture of the (new and not yet broken in) field boots I just bought, can you guys tell me if they are workable?

I haven't bought new tall boots in years, and while the height, calf width, and foot seem to fit...They are pretty loose in the ankle with lots of material bunching up. These are absolutely not top of the line boots and I really just need them for schooling and ONE fox hunt this winter.

Hmmm, the hunt is in Virginia...Maybe the extra room in the ankle can fit thicker socks

Are these field boots? Do you have them tied?

Yep and yep! I'll get pictures later, thanks

(I should note that I am reeeally picky about boots/shoes being tight, especially in the ankle. Just not sure I'm going to find that without spending more than I can afford though)

are they zipper or pull on?

I've had some models fit me too big in the instep and huge in the ankle.. the ariat heritage ones are like that on me. The Crowne's and Challenge's are fine though.

Being bigger in the ankle could make them drop more than normal, keep that in mind when you're looking at the height.

They're pull on. They are a bit tall (can't bend my knee very much without being stabbed in the back of my knee) but I figure that's normal. I'll figure out how to get pics in a little...Just got home from work!

they should seem at minimum an inch too tall. i like mine to be more like 2" too tall at first, because you figure they'll drop an inch to an inch and a half naturally, plus they drop a little more while you're in the saddle.

Okay here are some really lame pics...It's HARD taking pictures of your legs when it's getting dark out with a cell phone! I didn't want to get out my DSLR just for this.

They look much too tall and too wide to me. They shouldn't be that bunched up at your ankle. And they will drop once broken in, but until then they should be very tight on your calves. They just don't look right to me...

I think they look fine... they are brand new right? They WILL drop and really wrinkle up and soften. Are they Devon-Aire? I have the same kind Oil them with neatsfoot or olive oil on the inside around the ankle and it will help A LOT, but only do it once, twice maybe. I did that to mine and it really made an improvement.

no way they're too tall. Where they are now is not far from where they should end up after they're dropped, I think they might actually end up a little bit short by the time all is said and done.

they look a bit wide around the top too?

not the greatest fit but if they were cheap and you can live with it, they should do for what you need. Kudos to you for getting pull ons.. I can't live without my zip ups, I am too impatient and lazy. I think the zips tend to fit closer through the ankle as well.
