yes, she has been dewormed about two weeks ago. But before I was told that it went through moms milk to her. Since mom is hardly lactating and not wanting suckling, the baby was put in our worming schedule.

Thank you
Hands are measured in 4" increments. So; there is no such thing as being 12.5 hands. Sounds like your filly is around 13 hands.

You might see if your feed store carries a LMF feed like their Development Feed for young growing horses. Their feed is pretty good quality. Good luck.

I do agree her feet need some attention. I'm glad you have an appointment set up for her.

Her weight doesn't look bad based on these photos. You definately don't want her overweight. You should be able to see the outline of the ribs on foals and young horses. But you do need to pay special attention to their nutrition. Her mom's milk is getting to the stage where it doesn't provide anywhere near the nutrition it used to. Combine that with the decreased nursing, you've got a problem.

A ration balancer would probably be a good thing for this little one. Especially since she looks pretty decent as far as her overall weight goes.

Some examples of ration balancers that you might have available are Triple Crown (30% supplement), Buckeye (Gro n'Win), Progressive (ProAdvantage Grass Formula), Purina (Enrich 32).

I don't know what her living situation is (amount of room, contact with other horses, manure removal, etc...), but she's definately past the age where you would generally have started deworming. For horses under a year old, you will typically deworm once every 4 weeks and it's usually appropriate to rotate between pyrantel based products and ivermectin based products.

I use the Buckeye, and sometimes the Seminole RB, I really like the seminole, but its hard to get to that particular feedstore all the time. I had my foal on the wellness growsafe and my adult on the wellness perform safe with the RB added to the foals feed. They looked fantastic, better than they have ever looked and it helped them both pick up weight almost immediatly, in fact I have had to cut out both since we finally have a decent full time pasture because they were getting quite rotund and barely getting 1# per day. They both do the RB now and still look good. I swear by Seminole Feeds.
