| Senior Member+ | I am soooo bad! Why do I always get bored and just HAVE to look at horses for sale?! lol!!![]() So I found this little guy- http://www.equinehits.com/horses-for-sale/horse-211639 He is defanitly over priced, and defanitly needs a lot of work...which is what I am looking for. I want a horse that is broke, but green broke, or completely broke..w.e!lol. He is about 4hrs away from me. Soo..a little ways. I would get a ton of info on him before I brought the little guy home. You may ask "What does she see in him?!" What do I see in him? Well, I see, a small, ugly little horse....that, to me, IMO, has tons of potential...but if he was in the right home. Thats why I want him. 20 min of trotting every day, in hand work, undersaddle work, constant work, work, work, and some more work, is what this guy needs to be something nice. For those of you who are new, and dont really know me, I barrel race, I love to take up new challenges..and this is a challenge..that I want! lol!! So he would be turned into a gamer! Rayven- Well, I am still working with her, trotting her a bunch, and just doing everything to get her muscled up, and fast! Other people work with two horses, and ride two horses..so why cant I? Cybill (the girl that lets me keep Ray at her place) is in the same school district area as me..so I can ride the bus to her house, which would save us money (gas) and time. We tried it before..but I didnt do a good job. Long story. lol. Andd....soo, I would come from school, clean, than work Rayven for 20-25minutes, than work the little guy, for about 30min. Him longer for now, just because he needs a little more work. Rayven, she knows about all that stuff, and knows how to (sometimes! lol!) work...and not work! lol!! So what do you guys think? ![]()

I think he has potential, but he isn't screaming "barrel racer" at me at all. He really isn't screaming anything at me right now. I think that your action plan isn't the best. Sorry. It's just that I know what it's like to have a horse that needs work and more importantly TRAINING. And this guy needs training. And as idealistic as it is, half an hour is not enough time at all. Factor in grooming, tacking up, warming up, cooling down and untacking and you've got about 10 minutes of work time. And basically none for Ray. I think that you'd be better off to just stick with her for now, or sell her and get another horse - but if you do that, get one that is very suitable for what you want. Not trying to be rude or harsh, but if you get him - you will then have 2 horses, neither of which are really getting you anywhere in barrel racing as of now, less time - and IMO not nearly enough for either of them - and more stress. You also may need the help of a trainer for this guy, plus you have to pay for his initial cost and possibly (I don't know your arrangement for board or whatever) more for board, food, etc. You mentioned that getting there from the bus (or something) didn't work out last time. What makes you think it will work out better this time? I really don't want to come off as rude at all, I just want to help you see every angle here.

I agree with horseyfrk, a half hour is going to be NO WHERE near enough time for this guy. He will need a min of an hour (riding time) a day. With a horse that young you will need the help of a trainer. You might think you you know enough, but trust me, you will run into problems that you don't know how to fix, and no amont of reading will help you, and you will HAVE to seek prof. help. Do you have a trailer to do so? I'm also not trying to sound rude, just trying to be realistic.

Does this horse look like a barrel racer? ![]() I dont think she does. But thats Rayven. She is now extremely fast. I have been trotting her for 20min each day. It seems to be working. =] Im not trying to sounds rude either. But taking up, grooming, and everything else..takes like..5 min....i will have enough time to work two horses. Its not that big of a deal. I will be working with them both. Of course the little guy would get more work. But, Rayven also just needs the basics really. The new guy would need that..plus more =]. To me he doesnt scream barrel racer either...but neither did Rayven. And now she is an amazing barrel racer/pole bender..that we just might make it to districs in 4-H. =] I think with work, any horse can be anything anyone wants them to be.((unless they are bred for a certain discipline that iss..than you prolly dont want to screw with the whole bloodlines and crossing disciplines...thats how i look at it at least! lol!)) I think he could be a pretty good horse...just with time, and time, and time, and work, and work, and work...and some mroe time and work! lol! =] And the whole bus thing. It didnt work out cuz i didnt do my job correctly. Now I know how i need to clean in the barn to be able to ride and do all the fun stuff. I have done it many time after that situation..and all was well. As for the horse. Is he really sweet?! Thats awesome to know that someone has seen him on here!! I do have a trailer. My dad just bought me one for my easter/birthday/etc. present. lol! Its a two horse..and I wouldn't have to seek professional help. I have many friends whos parents, and parents friends know how to break horses, and train horses...who I can go to for help. =] I will talk to my mom about himm =] Thanks guys!

He doesn't look at all like a barrel racer to me. In fact it says in the ad that he has nice slow movement. If you want a barrel horse, find a horse who is actually barrel prospect. Yes any horse can do anything, but that does not necessarily mean that they can do it it well. And I don't see him becoming an incredible gaming horse.
