i think im going to try that on my horses tail.
she has a black tail so does it matter what color vetwrap you use? i have a light green one,would that make her tail green?

Nope, I use lime green on my bay mare's tail all the time. You only need to worry about light coloured tails

I've been doing that with the paint, and my friend has been doing that for a few years too.
We use slightly less vet wrap ('spensive stuff around here), but we wrap electrical tape around the outside a few times, to keep it in place.
I'm going to try sticking that tail bag over it in the summer...

Lol, nobody duct tape the tail in a plastic bag though; a guy did it once, (horse's owner's story), and, a little while later, when they took the bag off, they found that the tail had totally fallen off, and everything was rotting. Ew... You need to make sure the tail can breathe...

I know this is an older thread, but it is a really good one. I wen't out and wrapped Lucky's tail like this today, it worked wonderfully! I used just about a full roll of vet wrap on her tail though, she has such thick hair! Thanks for the step by step tutorial, very good!
