tail....

i know i've done some posts asking about how to grow the tail but.... i was looking at some pictures of my horse before i bought her and was "leasing" her and her tail was only down to her hock and her tail is now down to her fetlocks, i just washed it every other day and put cowboy magic in it every day and kept it detangled and brushed, it seemed to work i didn't even use a tail bag (i do now) but i suggest that if you do use a tail bag take it out once a week and let the tail go "free" for two days becuase if you keep the tail in a tail bag, sheeted, etc. the tail will fall out this happened to a boarder at my barn's horses tail when she bought him he was a stud and his tail was in a atail bag and when she took the tail bag out his tail fell out

That should really only be a concern if you put the tail bag in wrong. It can cause the hairs around the tail bone to break and get weak, if you tie it too tight or it is too heavy for the tail. You want the tail to have some weight to it, enough to help it grow, but too much will just weigh it down and cause breakage. You also don't want to put a heavy bag on a horse that swishes his tail a lot - this can also cause breakage.
