They probably COULD be repaired... they would most likely be reglued all the way up (the other side is split from one end to the other, the side shown is just starting). I really don't feel like I should have to pay to have $200 + reins to be repaired after less than 15 rides (and really dopey rides, too... I'm a wimp, and the most action these reins have seen was an all day trail ride). So I wanted to contact the manufacturer to see if they would repair or replace them at no charge.

Oh I totally agree with you!! I was just thinking that if there is no way to get them replaced I'd hate to see them have to get thrown out.

I would seriously think a set of reins marketed to eventers would hold up a heck of a lot better than that!!

I am peeved for you.

That is crazy! I have seen those reins, and a fellow competitor that used to ride at the same barn that I do now has them and competes on the eventing circuit with them - and as far as I know, has used the same pair for at least 2 seasons!

I would be ticked as well! I hope you can get this all sorted out!

They look as if they were made quite cheaply. I would expect reins in that price range to have much better craftsmanship. And I can certainly understand why you don't to simply fix them and go on about your business.

I certainly hope that this is one of those situations where you just happened to get a 'bad apple' from an otherwise great quality product.

Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed... I wonder if that was an ongoing problem with this company, Dawn, since it looks like they pulled up shop in the US.

I just contacted Dover to try to get the distributer info, as they used to carry them- who I did not buy the reins from- they are contacting me about sending them in for free repairs? I keep telling them I didn't buy them from them... I am floored and impressed... Dover doesn't usually offer customer service at this level.
