![]() ![]() | Tack and Turn out for m&m?! Okay never have done ANYTHING, and i mean NOTHING with mountain and moorland, im used to ex racers But i decided to take on a lil 13.2 m&m to bring on over the summer and decided its time to take him out and about and do some inhand showing with him! Im doing best turned out, best kept at grass and small breeds m&m. No idea how to turn him out (including tack) but this (im guessing from what i have seen) is my idea... A plain in-hand (or normal) bridle with a snaffle, for his tack. And im guessing nothing needs to be trimmed or plaited? Just very clean? Please anyone let me know as i don't want to go looking like a complete idiot!!!! Thanks Sophie |

Sorry, I can't help you much with correct suggestions, as I don't show. However, have you tried googling these show classes and finding pictures from recent shows? This is a good way of getting an idea of current trends for both rider and horse attire and proper tack. Also, if you know what shows you are planning to go to, why not just call/e-mail the show holder? Most horse people are pretty friendly, and they'd be able to tell you exactly what you'd need for their show. good luck! |

There's some discussion of turn-out and dress in the M&M wikipedia article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_and_moorland I'll look for a couple more links for you as well! go talk to these people: Native Pony forum: http://forum.hamletshouse.co.uk/index.php |

as for tack i show a stallion so he has his in hand bridle with stallion bit and chain, but i would use a snaffle on yours. i would neaten up your mane and tail DONT take any length off just tidy up the ends and use lots of show sheen and mane and tail conditioner to have it shining. i always plait up night before a show and take them out in the morning it just adds body and looks better, but this depends on what breed you have some like natural looking. and thats about it, just have the pony looking immaculate if iv forgoten anything ill come bk and edit when i think of it.
