Swiss National Championships - results & pics

This weekend I will compete at my first National Championships ever. I'm really excited
My horse unfortunately was not really fit the past 2 weeks so we had the first training on Monday, one again today. I'll do Ammy Showmanship, Horsemanship, Pleasure and Trail as well as Open Horsemanship. There's fierce competition in all of the classes and I'll be really lucky to just hit one or two finals.

I'm still struggling a bit with the pattern due to a little lack of training, so if any of you has a hint on any of them i really appreciate that.

We're back!
It was a really great weekend, we had so much fun.
The weather was extremely cold, it was raining and yesterday morning even snowing for a short time.. and me and my friends were camping!!

On Friday were the prelims, the classes were huge for Switzerland. Amateur Trail was first, my horse did surprisingly well until the last lope over, where he had a break to the jog and the poles were set too narrow to get back to lope again, so no placement there.

Ammy Horsemanship was pretty well but the Railwork was really poor as there were a lot of spooking horses and such running around... I had to stop my horse once in the lope for not crashing into the ones before me who were having a problem, the judges noticed; but I still made it to the final! I was really really excited.

Amateur Pleasure was next, there was some kind of spooky aura again in this class.. bucking and running horses, riders who really wanted to kick you out and rode extremely uncontrolled I had another two breaks from the lope because I was suddenly sqeezed to the rail with no chance to exit and horses passing so extremely closely.. It was one of the worst Pleasure class I've ever ridden in or seen, there were a lot of high quality horses and others that couldn't control their horses or just riding dangerously. Nevertheless the judges were really fair again and I was one lucky girl to enter the next go around. This go around wasn't any better, at least I was untroubled by those situations this time. I was really happy after those loooooong go arounds when I heard that I was in the final!

On Saturday I just had the Showmanship Prelim/Final. I was really confident about making it to the final, my horse did fantastic while warming up. But in the arena he couldn't even trot off without pulling his face anymore! He normally does wonderful pivots, but those in the pattern were aweful... he totally fooled me and didnt even care! So of course no final entry for Showmanship.
In the evening I rode him in the arena and practiced the Horsemanship Pattern for the Final on Sunday. He did amazingly well, he has never done HMS so precisely and concentrated before!!

Today while warming up again, he really gave his best. I rode a lot of walk and foreward trot before the Pleasure, he was smooth and relaxed. The Pleasure went really well, although I nearly couldn't ride on the rails.. With what I experienced in the prelims, I really preferred to get my horse (who is a little faster than the others) on the inside and leave enough space, I really didn't want to risk anything.
And we got a 6th Place!! I was so thrilled and so proud of my horse. He's not at all that standard Pleasurehorse you would expect to place top 10, but he was really steady the whole time and you could clearly see that he was content and liked it.

In the Horsemanship pattern I started off really well, but when it came to the turn I nearly forgot that I had to turn twice instead of just once and I stopped my wonderfully turning boy after 1 turn; fortunately my horse didnt listen to me but it still cost me a lot of points.
I was a bit unhappy about the placement, I placed 15th but there were other patterns which had clearly worser mistakes than I had and those placed top 10.

So it was a really great experience, I'm still thrilled about that Pleasure placement and the overall motivation of my horse.

Awesome! Those riders that you said were riding dangerously, obviously don't deserve to be at nationals!

Thanks!
Yes, but as the Championships are open to any riders/horses there always are some who in my opinion do not belong there. You wouldn't have wanted your high quality WP horse in that class..

Here are some pics for you!
