Yea, I totally agree with everyone else. If you don't scrape the water off, it not only keeps the horse hotter because of the trapped heat, but it's gotta be like chinese water torture with it dripping so much.....

another avid scraper from massachusetts! a layer of water on any horse here today would have easily and likely had adverse effects. i didn't hose mine til sunset, and they all went under fans til dry. i think it is imperative that they be scraped when it's hot or humid. early spring i am not as concerned as it is still a bit cool, and they DO roll, creating a shield from bugs, early heat and sun bleaching.

ALWAYS scrape! The sun is drawn to water, by leaving them under a layer of water your just making more heat develop.

Yes, water acts as a insulator so throw a horse into the heat without being rid of all that water is very bad.

Interesting...I've never used a sweatscraper, in oh...13 years. I hose mine off daily during the summer and tie them in the shade while they dry and i clean their stalls, get the next horse ready, etc.

Guess I do it wrong too! I scrape the dripping water from his belly but I leave him wet. I put him inside to dry off because I never turn him out wet. I wont miss any opportunity to get dirty say I try not to give him an excuse. Also, I spray on Healthy Hair everytime he is wet and the effects are better if hes wet and it drys as opposed to hes dry and I spray it on..
