Surcingle crupper & breast plate, longlines...

I am getting a surcingle so that I can start longlining my horse, but I still need to find a crupper and breast plate for it. I also need a set of longlines (I'm looking for the pulley "draw" type lines) and a surcingle pad. Other than places like National Bridle Shop and World Champion Horse Equipment, is there anywhere else I can look? I have found "Aussie" cruppers that buckle onto the ring of the saddle, but are they the same as a crupper for a surcingle, or are they shorter? I don't plan on getting everything at once... just want to see what's available and get it as I can afford it!

I can't wait for the surcingle to come... I'll be interested to see how the leather is! I opted for an all-leather one (I'm not a fan of the webbed ones), and I got what could *amazingly* fit into the budget thanks to my Mom oweing me some $$ for buying dog food *LOL* So she's getting it for me. This is it... not the best, but it should get the job done (and they take returns, so if it's not great, then I will just have to save a heap of money or go without )

Why do you need the crupper/breastplate? Does the surcingle not stay in place?

I don't have the surcingle yet, so I'm not sure, but I have always used a crupper to longline... breastcollar is kind of up in the air unless the surcingle tilts or moves back (since my horse has prominent withers). I've actually been trying to remember what I used when I lined, it's been SO long *lol* I'm like 99% sure we used a breastcollar, but then again I could be thinking of using the tailsets and just melding the two together I think I may try to research it this weekend (go check out the surcingle/bittingrig I used before *LOL*) if I get a chance to and go from there. I would still like to know other places that carry them, though, in case I need to get them.

i think they sell a crupper at smartpak if you needed one of those. and i saw some pulley drawreins in the latest issue of dover, so if you wanted to try both of their sites. smartpak.com and dover.com

Before ya spend the money, I'd wait and see. My surcingle pretty much stays put on its own

I've used tail sets, but never a crupper unless I was actually *driving*.

You might have already looked, but maybe the National Bridle Shop carries them?

I have spare faux white fleece laying around. I'd be happy to whip you up a couple of surcingle pads. Can you show me an example of what you'd need?

I've also seen cruppers on ebay for a super nice price...
