Sunscreen

My friend has a paint that has a pink nose that is getting sunburned. I have never had this problem so I don't know much about it. What should they do? Should they use Aloe Vera and then sunscreen and what kind of sunscreen? Is human sunscreen okay? Do they make sunscreen for horses? Please help his nose his all crusty.

Zinc Oxide is the best. Regular sunscreen will just wash off when he drinks and ware off very quickly. Aloe Vera will help soothe his nose - let it soak in before applying the zinc. I'd clean off the zinc at night and re-apply the Aloe Vera.

There are also fly veils that have special nose sections to combat the burning

I use a product from Naf - it seems pretty good but I think the Zinc Oxide might be better - in fact I am going to get some - it will probably be cheaper than horse stuff as well as more effective

One of my ponies has a pink nose.

I use human waterproof sunblock for his nose, one which also contains a fly repelant, have used the same one for years, never had a sunburnt nose yet. It does stay on all day while the sun is out, it's coloured and he still has it on the next morning LOL

Safe for kids, safe for Horses, and works out cheaper that any horse product.

Your too clever for me Miss BanditYou know alot of the medical terminoligy - ooh you worked for a company didn't you

I have the Avon factor 30 waterproof one with fly repel, but on the real hot days, the funky coloured one LOL, is a complete sun block, an Austrailian one, and it's THIS COLOUR Imagine him all grey, very light now he's getting older with that coloured nose, who cares.

Seen some right scabby noses in the past, he aint keen to have it on though his eyes are like this when he see's the bottle. LOL

Used to make me sick at Shows when people put Baby Oil to gloss up their ponies noses, imagine you may as well put cooking oil on and let them fry in that heat(just a tip)

Human sunscreen works well on horses for a shorter period of time. my horse gets turned out for most of the day, but normally he comes in before the beally bad sun, or out after it, so if that is the case with your friends horse a regular waterproof one should work!
