Sunblock

What kind do you use on a horse, my new mare has a really pink nose and when I took her to a show a couple weeks ago I could not believe how sunburnt she got. Someone told me not to put any higher then spf 15 on her. Just wondering what the best kind to put on them was.

Something waterproof, but I normally use the people stuff. Although I did manage to find a fly repellent with SPF and used that for a while.

I always use Coppertone one my pink nosed/eyed horses at shows. A sunblock formulated for babies and like Moostang said, is waterproof

I also try to find one that soaks in quickly so that they don't get loads of bits of hay and dirt stuck to it.

I recently noticed how pink my filly's nose really is.. and the other day saw that it was burnt.. Greeeat..

So I used human stuff. Coppertone SPF 45, I believe.. sweat/waterproof.

Many horses get chemical burns from "our" sunscreen, and the higher the factor the greater the chance of burns. You may want to consider using Zinc Oxide, it is cheaper and safer.

I have a paint mare very sensitive to sun and has peeled. I started using 50 spf water babies or banana boat. They just came out with 70 spf here in jersey. I have to put it on everyday. Good luck.
