Wow, I looked at your site and his site and am very impressed. What a great verastile guy you have there. Of course I am also partial to buckskins and duns as my QH mare is a dun. Good luck in the breeding barn with him!

Thank you everyone for the nice comments about our boy! Keep in mind that we are offering a lot of great discounts right now for early booking and other things so if you are thinking of booking a mare to him, now is a good time. Check out the website for details. www.sbrformulaone.com

Also, "Jess!" I'm pretty sure we have crossed paths before about horses a few years ago when you lived in Alpine. Contact me when you move back and maybe we can meet for real and to riding or something.

Thank you again everyone for your wonderful comments. Have a wonderful holiday season.

Keep horse'n around!

Regarding JBandRio 's posting regarding color genetics and some other color questions I've received:

This forum thing is really fun BTW!!!

Yes you are correct, there is not a test yet to decide Homoz/Hetero for the Dun gene so that is why when you use the color calculator at www.horsetesting.com you select Dunskin as his color and then leave dun factor as "unknown" (don't select hetero. or homoz.). If a horse possesses dun factor it is for sure they have the dun factor gene but unknown as to if it's hetero/homoz.

And yes he is Homoz. black & Homoz. Agouti, which means no matter what he will always produce a black based coat, but in the point pattern (homoz. agouti), such as dun, dunksin, buckskin and bay (no solid black coats such as black or grullo). And with the exception of double dilutes, those will obviously not have visable points, just "cream" colored.

I was thrilled to say the least when we found out his color specifics because color is not first on my list for things to consider regarding a show or breeding horse, it just happened to be that he go that too.

Thank you everyone for your questions, concerns, and comments...this is fun!

suncolors--your stallion is gorgeous and definitely deserves to keep his goodies intact! The Gallery is amazing. In every picture that horse is showing his talent and supreme work ethic. He is doing everything and you can tell he is happy to be doing it. I can't get all the pics to pull up, but the ones I can see... he looks calm and attentive, with his ears pricked forward. He is happy to do his job.

Take away the flashy color and make him a sorrel and you've still got a fabulous stallion. That says a lot. He is a do-it-all stallion... rare in these days of specialization.

This horse epitomizes what I believe that the American Quarter Horse and the American Paint Horse should be. Congrats on such a fabulous horse. I will be keeping an eye on him in the future.

Oh, and because I wouldn't live up to the reputation I've built for myself if I didn't say it:

Does anybody else see the splash white?

Thank you very much for the nice message. I'm glad you can see that in his pictures because you described him to a ‘T’ and it means more to people I think if they can see it for them selves in pictures or him in person, than me telling them those exact things about him. I do feel very lucky to have him in my life and know he is a unique boy. Thank you again! Have a nice holiday season!

Oh also, what do you mean about "spash white"? I'm a little confused is all. He has a white nose and some on his feet but that is it, no white on his body and not enough to be a crop out, in case that is what you mean.

Thanks,
Jessica

LOL... one thing you'll learn, if you hang around here enough, is that we are big "color nerds". Especially me, JB&Rio, HaasHorseFarm, ACCphotography, and Ryu... some others, too, if I forgot anyone.

I know your horse isn't a cropout. But that big snip at the bottom of his nose is a hallmark of a minimal splash. When bred to a splash white or minimal splash white mare, your boy probably has the ability to throw some nice splash offspring.

Oh. That's cool that you are color fans here!! I am too but only since I got him a few years ago. I got him when he was a yearling because of his kind willing disposition and really wasn't into color then. However in the past year I started to learn more about color genetics and now have taken some genetics classes and find it really interesting with the dilutes and things.

His sire has less white then he does and my friend that has owned him for the past 11 years breeds him to all her QH, Paints, and Arabs (many mares a year) and he throws lots of color, even on the paint mares. So it should be interesting with him to see what he throws with paints.

Fun stuff!
