Stretching down

Okay so what do you guys do to get the horse's head low to stretch out your horse's back? I have ideas that I was taught, but wondering if there are better ones out there or ones I can try so my horse doesn't get bored. Thanks!

I use a loose rein (a loose rein does not mean no contact), and encourage my horse to go very forward. I don't exactly know how to explain it, but I can feel what i'm doing when i do it - lol. maybe someone else could explain better.

With Regal it's just a matter of keeping leg on him asking him to move forward and look for contact with the bit, then gradually lengthening the reins.

If the horse is working properly "through," which means thrusting from behind, bringing the back up under the saddle, and searching for connection with the reins, gradually lengthing the reins (only as much as the horse will take) will encourage the horse to stretch downward outward, in all three gaits. Maintain the inside bend and be careful not to change your weight distribution--if you lean forward the horse's neck will come back up as a counterbalance.

Hope that explanation makes sense!

You mean ideas for things you can train/work on on a lunge line?

More or less to get my horse to stretch out her back and stretch her neck and head down low to the ground. I want it to be her idea, not so much restricting her head and neck from coming up. Just for warming up purposes that's all.

warming up you can do on her to streach out, with my mare, I give to small squezes with the riens and give her the riens and she'll just streach out, some times needing to add leg with the swing of her walk
