Stormy is a good horse? REally? *A trainer rode stormy*

An event trainer at my barn rode my horse today. Not because I am getting lessons or anything, but she knows someone who would possibly like to lease him. So she watched me ride him, put him threw his paces, etc. She helped me out a bit, told me i have an AMAZING position, i just tend to lean a bit forward and my hands need work. She says they tend to give at the wrong times etc and I just need to learn how to give/take at the right times.

So then she hopped on stormy. She had small english spurs which made me a little nervous but I told her it was okay. He was a real champ. He was RELAXED and he was actually moving. She had him moving with impulsion that i've never seen, and she asked for a simple yeild of his hips in the middle of a figure 8 at the trot, and he moved them over with an over step of 3' or so. She was very suprised, she was like

"Wow, did you see that? He's a little snake. Very flexible"

She cantered him a bit and did a little bit more of lateral exercises. He wasn't leaning on her hands at all and was really moving. His trot looked like a warmbloods (Not as big, granted he's little).

She got off, impressed. This made me very happy. Lol. My hard work actually was going somewhere. She said she would mention him but he isn't quite as finished in dressage, but if her client is willing to deal with a little bit of harder work to get the "pushing buttons" down, she'd love it.

She told me she saw him having no trouble reaching higher levels of dressage with good work and time. As well as eventing. She hasn't seen his jump, but she said his "Natural ability" was pretty remarkable for a little grade arab cross.

She also mentioned she would be willing to work on a working student situation so I can get some lessons. She said that she would hate to see us be held back due to money, she thinks we really might go somewhere.

With a little bit of tips from her, he was working much better, it was amazing how much of it was me. I'll get some pictures soon

Cool

Cool! That sounds very exciting for both you and Stormy! Good luck with the lease and possible working student position.

Thanks! She isn't my favorite person in the world. I really don't like how her husband trains at all but she is very sweet. And I will get any instruction I can get. If people are sending their warmbloods to her that are winning in shows she must be doing something right.

YAYYYYYY!!!!!!!

THat is so exciting.. I know the feeling. I worked with a trainer for a short time when I first started Mel under saddle until I couldn't afford it anymore, and then I was on my own with her. I had her for almost 2 years before anyone else ever got on her, so I was ecstatic when the trainer who rode her was really impressed.

Congrats, and keep up the great work! Yay for the crazy little ay-rabs!

Thanks everyone. It would be so awesome. Him getting ridden in lessons with someone doing dressage and me getting dressage lessons myself. Fun stuff
