[quote=CowGirlUp1833.... how difficult would it be to round up just young colts for geldings? Perhaps get veterenarians to volunteer thier time to do this or have a non-profit org. set up to do this....?? Any thoughts?[/QUOTE] Unless you round up the bachelor bands only, it would be impossible to round up only the young colts in order to geld. Also, while this is not a bad idea, only one stallion breeds within a herd. It is sterilization of the mares that does the most to slow down population explosion. As hard as it is for people to hear, some type of euthanization/selling to slaughter, putting to sleep, what ever, is one of the more practicle solutions. That combined with adoption and some type of effective sterilizatino program is probably going to need to be put into effect to keep the herds going, alive, healthy and at appropriate numbers. When we can't even provide health care in this country for people who have JOBS let alone people who do NOT have jobs, adn we spend $43 million on shuffling Mustangs around, we need to seriously rethink what we're doing and how we're doing it.

I think you are correct about sterlization....too bad we can't just slip some BC pills into hay and drop it! lol...I dunno.....
