stone bruising help

My daughter's mare has a stone bruise and Pro show is in less than two weeks. We soaked her foot in Epsom salt and warm water last night. Is this the best method of treatment??? If so how often and for how many days should we soak her foot. If not what is ? Does Epsom salt dry out the hoof ? Any suggestions welcome.

Is the foot sore? If it's just a bruise, I wouldn't soak at all - you want it to stay/get hard, not stay soft and more ouchy.

you don't have to soak it, just don't ride her for a few days. it took beauty 3 days to get over stone bruising. you might want to pick her feet three times a day, though. why? because it will help her heal faster. because if she has another stone in her hoof, it will make her worse.

Keep the mare in a stone free area and do not soak or ride the horse for three or four days. Depending on the severity of the bruise will depend on how long it takes to heal. Keeping the hoof clean will help. Be sure it is a dry and not muddy or boggy area.
