Stomping

How do I teach my horse not to stomp when my husband comes up to him ? I can be grooming him or cleaning his feet but as soon as my husband walks up then he stomps his foot at him.

Is your husband comfortable around horses? Is the horse sensing that your husband possibly feels lower down in the chain of command? If hubby is confident, have him send the horse into a round pen exercise. I would suggest joinup, but even if you don't go as far as to work the exercise exactly - the process of asking a horse to work off you and keep working until you allow them to cease, this process does instill in them that you are top dog. I would also have him growl at the horse in a strong voice the next time the horse makes move to stomp at him. Growl, step forward with some aggressiveness - but do not holler and hit.
