STOLEN HORSE, Portland, OR

Here is something I found. A horse stolen from dressage trainer Biagina Lazaroni:

“At 7:30am, my horse, Woric, was stolen from the farm where he was boarded. A gold pick-up pulling a white slant-load 3-horse trailer pulled up. The grey-haired driver and his tall, young, dark-haired female companion loaded my horse up and drove away.

Woric – affectionately known as Wromeo – is a 6yr. old, 16 hand, black Hanoverian gelding registered with the American Hanoverian Society. He has a white short strip on his face and 4 short white socks. He is sweet, affectionate and gentle. For those of you who saw us at the DevonWood and Lake Oswego shows, you know that we were a very good team.

If you have seen this horse, or have any information as to his whereabouts, please contact Biagina Lazaroni, 541-915-4521. If you were hired to haul the horse, please be advised that you have been – perhaps unknowingly – involved in a crime. If you see this horse offered for sale, it is being done so illegally.”

I have been attempting to find out the results of this, as I'm in the area. From a rumor I've heard, the horse was co-owned (or something like that) and there was a dispute and somebody took the horse. Rumor has it that he is back at his barn. But that's all just hearsay, so don't take my word on it!

I have heard of this all over the place. I live in So. Oregon and its on CL, etc. I am subscribed to Stolen Horse International so I got a notice from them as well. I haven't seen a horse like this, but I'll keep my eyes peeled. I wish I got out to shows, etc. more where someone might take him....and there are no sales/auctions, etc. in my area so I doubt he would be here....I can't believe that... Thats why you really have to pick you barn carefully I think. I know a barn around here a guy used to keep his horse at. He asked me if I could pick him up for him one day and I walked in, took the horse out of the stall, loaded him up and left and no one said a word. The guy didn't tell them I was coming either. I know the horse belonged to him but...I would never keep my horses there because they SHOULD have asked me what I was doing as I wasn't familiar to them and wasn't the owner. I think I would only keep my horses somewhere that is fairly full so that there is always someone around, and I'd make sure every knew who I was and which horse was mine and would appreciate it if they made sure no one but me touched my horse. If I saw something that fishy, I'd certainly approach them and ask why the heck they were touching someone else horse.

And runningcows, another Stolen Horse ad for him just went up in my area on CL today so I assume he is still missing?

Oh! See, here is the confirmation I was looking for. Good to know, firelight27. I've been keeping my eyes peeled just in case he was still out there.

The barn I keep my horses at I am fully satisfied wouldn't let any horse leave the barn if the person didn't look familiar. We are a small, private barn, but that way everyone knows everyone else and which horse belongs to which person. I also get the confidence that if my horse is acting weird or even if the BO lowers my horses' feed because they're getting overweight or picks it up because they're losing weight, I'll be notified. It makes me feel safe.

Firelight,

I've been trying to find the horse on Netposse since I first found out about this but haven't seen a notification yet. Maybe they just sent out to all subscribers, but would be a little counterproductive not to put it on their site...

A few years back we had left Pago at a show in his stall. Friends of ours had trouble loading their pony so decided to borrow Pago to load first so their pony would load. The fact they did it didn't really worry me. I trusted them and they told me they had done it.

What did sort of P me off was some people who knew us, knew our horse but did not know our friends stood there and watched them halter and walk off our horse out of the grounds with out saying a word.

There was another ad posted on the Medford, OR CL saying the horse was not stolen...that the person who took the horse WAS the owner, but some people at the barn didn't know that, so they thought it was stolen.....I heard somewhere else that the person who picked the horse up was the owner, and everyone there knew that, so no one stopped him. But later, the barn owner called in and said the horse was stolen because the horse owner owed them board/fees, etc. and they were trying to keep the horse there until he had paid up, so they considered it stolen??? Its confusing, but I dont think the horse was actually stolen...I think its a money issue, which is why its not on NetPosse, because once they figure out something is fishy and its not a "real" theft they won't get involved.

I DID get an email from NetPosse about it at first, but I'm on a mailing list. It didn't actually get to the point where they could verify that it was really stolen, so didn't go up on the website ever.
