stirrup leather holes rubbing saddle

I just got a new saddle and the holes on the leathers are rubbing the saddle. I have the calfskin ones and they didn't do this on my old saddle. So why are they doing this and what can I do to get it to stop without using fleece covers?

Should I try a pair that is solid leather and not nylon lined?

Can't say I have ever had that problem. Sounds like the nylon core is sticking out of the holes and rubbing the saddle flaps? What brand of calfskin leathers are these? Can you return them for a different pair?

So these are the same leathers you used on your last saddle without problem? If so maybe it is the saddle...perhaps the leather is just a type that scratches more easily, or you notice it more because there were no other marks.

I must have been riding funny the other day as it didn't do it today. Who knows!

Pally, the saddles are different leather textures and ages (one is new and the other 30+ yrs). Which could be the issue but since it didn't do it today when I rode w/t/c I'm guessing I was doing something funny the other day.

Still might buy a new pair, as I did rob these off the other saddle.

In general, the more closely matched the saddle and leathers material is, the less chance of any major scratches. So yes, nylon-lined leathers are more likely to scratch a leather saddle.

Ok I understand that but you also confused me. I thought the calfskin leathers were less likely to rub? Are there calfskin leathers that aren't nylon lined? Both pairs I have are. The particular leathers/saddle I'm talking about are both Toulouse.
