Stinky synthetic saddle !

I just bought a big horn saddle off a lady who is getting out of riding. She had kept it in a tupper ware box for about a month, and just took it out the day before yesterday. It smells so musty, like mildew. How can I clean it to get the smell gone ?

thanks

I think that good old febreeze should work great, if its mostly the material synthetic.. if its the fake leather sorta stuff, just give it a good washing with soap and water. Spray the bottom well with febreeze or something of the sort, as well.

I agree with Belle. I usually just clean my synthetic with soap and water. Then, set it out in the sun to dry. It may take a while to dry but it will smell better when you get done. Also, to help it dry faster, you could use a hair dryer on it.

I dont' know if anyone remembers.. a while back my english got skunked.. I was able to soak it in the washing machine with oxyclean... But it does take quite a while to dry and if it doesn't dry fast it can get moldy. Try the febreeze first.. I put some of that on my saddle after it dried to get rid of the last of the smell.
