Unhappy StillBirth *UPDATE!!*

My mom was looking up still births on line -
Now, I already knew that it was a breeched baby (backwards), but she apperently has a 'Red Sac' birth too - have you guys heard of it?

So, I went in to feed a friend's Minis tonight, and one mare was in labor! I was so excited, It was my first birth.
Well, she labored for about an hour, and she finally got a little bit of the sack out, and our hearts sank - butt first.
The vet was at the track, so there was nothing to do but walk poor Sunny around for hours, and rub her when she layed down.

So she finally pushed it out, afterbirth and all, and the baby just lay there...we rubbed the chest, and checked the mouth, and finally gave up.

She was a beautiful tobino filly, but she was so big! And her legs seemed way too long...

This was Sunny's first birth, but it's still so sad...

I guess that's the problems with minis. They just keeping getting bred down in size.. sigh...

We named the baby Tarrago, but we're glad that Sunny made it - we thought for a while whe was just gonna give up.

How terribly sad... I'm sorry for you and your friend. But glad that the mare is ok. Give her lots of hugs... I'm sure she's missing baby.

I have lost two foals myself. It was devastating.

I am sorry for your loss.

So sorry about your loss. I know how devastating that is. I am very glad that mom pulled through, though. Poor momma, she must be feeling the loss. So sad!

The same thing happened to my friends mare....breach birth....ended up pulling the foal out by the tail....mare couldn't push any more...and we didn't want to loose the her as well as the foal.
