to be on the safe side i would buy a foal blanket for the foal when it is born. and if you can catch the foal have a few towls handy and maybe a blow dyer handy. you will want to dry the foal off if it is really cold. you don't want to foal getting frost burn. my friend's horse's ears tips are gone do to frost burn.

Spoke with my new vet yesterday and heres what he said. He said that due to her size(12hnds) that he cant check her. Says that his arms/hands are too big to even try and possibly tear her. He was surprised that my other vet checked her internally but said he'd rather not risk it.He also said that if the foal was stillborn that she would visibly be sickly. She is acting fine and very active so I dont think thats the problem.
So now Im trying to find someone that can check her out for me to see if they can help. Im almost thinking that she may not even be in foal now. We have not been working her for a while and shes been getting mare&foal everyday for a while so maybe she is just fat. The vet is going to be out next week to draw blood from her to check for pregnancy. I swear i can see signs that she is, but shes my first pregnant mare and I have read a ton of stuff, but am still lost. Maybe i'll get this figured out soon.
If I post some pictures of her when I got her, in comparision to now, can you all give me some opinions? The vet couldnt help me much without seeing her and it was hard to explain all the stuff to him on the phone.

She may have been in foal and lost the baby in the field... SO you might never see it... and she coudl be doing false pregnancy.. just a thought!

There are a number of vets who prefer not to palpate horses due to the high liability associated with rectal tears, but can the original vet not return and palpate her and utilize ultrasound? Although the baby could be too deep in the abdomen to feel if it hasn't yet begun to rise for delivery.

What blood test is he going run?
