Sticky Nose!!

OK, so I have a flea bitteng gray, and his feed consists of molasses and other stuff (haha, no time to list everything else, sorry!). Anywase, every time he eats, he just gets really messing and his nose gets SO molasses-y! haha! It gets really sticky, and then it dries. So he's left looking like he soaked his muzzle in mud! SOOOOOO........... this is one of those things that has began to REALLY REALLY REALLY bug me. I'm one of those people that really doesn't need to have a light/gray colored horse, because I'm OBSSESSSSSED with keeping them clean (which BTW, is vertually impossible). Now, for my questionh: Any suggestions on what I can do to get it clean quickly? Water takes LOADS of scrubbing and time. Does anyone think rubbing alcohol would work? Would that be dangerous? Anyone have a secret potion that works!?!? haha! Thanks everyone who takes the time to read this and answer!

Rubbing alcohol would dry out his skin and make it crack..owie!

I would say keep his nose coated in some sort of oil to keep it from sticking.

Also, why is he getting molasses? You could just cut that out...

I have the self cleaning model. He eats, and then dunks his nose in the water bucket! Seriously, provide him with a dipping bucket near his feed...something you can easily remove and clean and he may just wash his face on his own. My guy does not like a messy nose. Other than that, the best thing is a wash cloth and warm water. the warm water will help dissolve it better than cold.

Most horse feed has molasses . He's on one of the best horse feed on the market right now, I promise (parent's own feed store).

Hummm...well, since it sort of comes with the molasses then I guess you're stuck!

I know how you feel haha. My chestnut mare is getting a evening feed of rice bran and beet pulp and when she is done the bran is EVERYWHERE! I even found it on her ears one day! Luckally though the bran wipes right off with a soft brush hehe.

Anyway, im not sure what to tell you with your molasses nose over there... maybe try some hmmm....cowboy magic? I know they make some good products for greys?
Sorry i cant help you out more!
