Thanks Bella! I can tell you this.. It was BLOODY COLD in the barn and outside, so we're all bundled up in big coats, gloves, hats, etc, LOL.

Well I will say, the things I've learned from this experience so far, have been more then worth it right there! I knew a fair amount about horses, training, riding, etc prior to the begining of this adventure, but NOTHING prepared me for it... DOING this adventure, has taught me so much I never thought about before and I'm seeing the results in other areas!

they were NOT paying attention to who and what was around them.
I have the same problem with Reno. Mostly just with people she doesn't know. They'll walk right up to her and just stand there. Like right on her, in her space. Totally freaks her out. I can tell them not to before they do it, while they're doing it, everything. Doesn't work. Just let her freak out once with them standing that close, they won't do it again . Or people that walk up to her like they own the world. A few seconds later, they don't own quite so much of it.

You'd think people would just listen. And these are people that have been around horses for years (supposedly).

Or, no, these are the best. The people that freak her out, then they're like "poor baby, here let me pet you". Um, yeah right.

That is fantastic news Karyn!! I can't believe myself how far you have come with Poncho! I think it is even good that he had those few "blow-ups" because like you said, now you know you can handle them and do wonderfully! I'm so proud of you and Poncho!! Really ecstatic that things went so well! I suppose this means there are no pictures?

I truly don't get it... If I'm told "don't get behind this horse, he MAY kick" I BELIEVE that he MAY!~ MAYis enough for ME to think, "hmmm. can I afford dental restoration and plastic surgery for my face?".. "Nope!"... and I avoid that rear end region of that horse like the the plague!

And what IS it with people wanting to then reward an animal with "it's OK honey, skookums, Pookey pie"??? when that animal does freak out? Thanks, I wanted you to freak my horse (dog, kid what ever) out to begin with and now I'm REALLLY happy you just REWARDED and REINFORCED that behavior! GOSH You've been so helpful!!!!! Meet my friends ... Ms Smith and Ms Wesson...

Haha!!! Seriously, I wonder. I think people think, 'oh, the horse kicks, like when a fly lands on it'.

Thanks Hannah and Dee! I just had occassion to 'practice' one of the exercises for getting over with Lexi... Since in her infinate wisdome, she decided to pin her ears back at me and toss her head in my direction when I went out to feed Poncho and bring Lexi in from the field...The practice was perfect! LOL fixed her 'tude' in about 30 seconds flat! LOL
