Unhappy step-dads horse commits suicide-4 yrs ago

it was about 4 years ago when this happened but we are still kind of shocked on how he died. my grandpa and i went riding on a friday. i was riding my qh and my grandpa was riding my step-dads horse which was a paint. anyways when we were done we decided to take them to his house so that they could eat the grass down-he live like 2 minutes from my house. that night i went to my dads house. saturday he was going to pony my horse and ride my step-dads back to my house. well he tied up my step dads horse to his truck, he had metal bars all the way around. well he had forgotten something up at the house so he went to get it. you could see the horse from his house, it wasnt that far. well when he shut the door he started walking and saw the horse go down. he ran to go see if he just fell but when he got there it wasnt good. Jay-the horse-had rared up and came down on the pipe right on his juggler. it killed him instantly. it was soooooooo sad. my step-dad hadnt even had him for more than 2 months. and my grandpa, he felt really bad. we werent sure if the door scared him or what. we were amazed that he hit the juggler as he did. he probably couldnt have done it again if he tried. a while later my step-dad got in a bad wreck and totaled my grandpas truck-now they say their even.

Oh my gosh! How horrible! I would've been just absolutely horrified! Sounds like a horrible freak accident.

Thank you for sharing your terribly sad story about you're step father's horse Cowgirl Up... What it was definately a tragic accident, that wasn't anyone's fault, it does serve as a valuable reminder to us as horse owners that we need to be very cognisant of where we tie our horses up at and see if there is anyway they could get themeselves in a freakish predicament.! I almost caught myself tying Lexi off of my cemented in corner fence post today... NO biggie right? Well could have been since she's got loose shoes, and there's field fence on the inside of the 3 rail and if seh started pawing while tied could have gotten a loose shoe caught up in the field fencing... I'm glad I actually realized that prior to setting myself up for a problem! I took the 50 extra steps to secure her to the safe tie rail instead!

I'm glad that your Step Dad and grandfather don't hold grudges against one another for their accidents!
