Umn GreenerPastures Standardbred resuce (aka British Columbia Standardbred Rescue)
www.greenerpastures.ca
they get new horses ALL the time, and sometimes they arent listed, because they go so quick.
They are AWESOME! Tim and Mary are very honest, genuine people! PLus, you have 30 days, and if you dont like the horse, you can keep trying different horses until you get a perfect match! they are only $750 adoption fee, unless they arent fully sound, then they are usually $500. They are vet checked when brought in, and started under saddle.

For Thoroughbred, New Stride is great. (aka BC Thoroughbred retirement foundation) They are in northern BC, and Ann Turner is the main go to person with them. She is an equine chiropractor and vet. (www.witsendfarms.com)
I havent dealt with them much personally, like I have Greener Pastures, but know they are reputable.

GOOD LUCK IN YOUR SEARCH!

If you go to www.digitalwave.ca/osas
Its a Canadian adoption site BUT there are some links or you can e-mail the program director (she is REALLY nice) and she may be able to point you to a good adoption site in your area (be it in the US or Canada).

Hey if you want to check out some info on the standardbred look at the thread posted under this Adoption category "Standardbred Adoption" There are lots of us on here who either have a standardbred or have experience with them.

yep and lots of links in there I believe too. Need to know whre you are in order to recomment the correct adoption association.
Another thing you can do is visit the local track and ask around about horse that might be for sale to amish out. Often a trainer will sell a horse that is not racing well to get it a good home and they generally don't sell them for much.
