Standardbreds

Does anyone know of any Standardbreds for sale near the southwest Virginia area? Or a site that has standardbreds that have came off the track for sale? My mom's boyfriend is looking for a standardbred, preferably one that has came off the track recently. We are looking for this type of standardbred for their racking and/or pacing abilities. So if anyone has or knows of a site or a standardbred please Pm me or post.

Often you can find breeders and rescues online by searching in google. My farrier raises and races standardbreds. He'll be out in a few days... I'll ask him if he knows anyone in that area.

Check out this ad:

Sounds like a good deal with harness and carrige with the horse. Maybe you should check it out.

When I get home, I will check some of the old horses adds I have...I think there were two in the local trading post. I will let you know tonight or tomorrow what I find.

emsNkeeper- Thanks! I guess I should say that he is just about willing to go anywhere. As long as the drive is under 6 hours. He has really got Standardbred fever, and we looked on all the horse classified sites I could find. I will look up standardbred rescue shelters or breeders. Something that could prevent a horse from going back onto the track might not phase them in pleasure riding.

Madeline- I think he is wanting a slightly younger horse, under 9 I think. He told me last night that he wanted a horse that had pulled a sulky, and had been retired from the track. I don't know if any of you have heard of him, but he owned a gelding that came off the track called One Rank Stranger, he is now going for the World Champion speed racking title in Alabama. He sold him about four years ago, Stranger had a problem with running away. Not long after that he broke his trainers leg.

I'm taking it you're looking for something that was successfull on the track?

My Farrier has two wash-outs for sale for 900$ each, one 4 and the other is 3. Both pacers and fillies.

I'll see if he knows if anyone has anything that has some umph for sale or that they would consider selling. He does go to Maryland and virginia for races.
