Wow janessa, she is gorgeous. Sounds exactly my horse Steeler, I got him after he had a bunch of traning and I have heard he used to race but I am not sure. I love my STB to death too
I definetly recommend them to anyone who wants a horse, they are just the most willing horses.

This is a picture of the Standardbred mare and gelding we saved from the slaughter house. The one facing the camera is Jackie she is now 8yo and looks beeter than that. she has put on more weight. She only got to race once and came ninth so they sent her to auction and we bought her instead of the slaughter house. The other one is Dusty. He is 28yo and we got him from a friend who was going to use him for bush bashing. he taught me how to ride. He was my first horse and i have had him for four years. i love them both too much to ever sell them. I dont no how to really train a horse so soon we are getting Jackie properly trained. When we got her we were told that she had been ridden and she was great. A while later my best friendcame over and rode her and Jackie reared and bucked whenever she was kicked. About 6 months later she was getting better when i stopped riding her for some stupid reason. now we have finally decided to get her trained properly. When she does get trained properly im going to get her really fit and we are going to do endurance. If you have any questions plzz ask.

WE HAVE STANDARDBREDS!!!!!!! they are also a very great breed of horse! Everything that annabelle is VERY TRUE~................these horses like most tennesse walking horses have a very smooth gaint to them. You can ride these horses for a very long time....and not have to worry about your butt hurting. I am also asking if you dont have a horse....then there is alot of them that u can adopt...and a standardbred is a great choice. Go to www.horseadoption.com and you can find all the tb and standard breds u need!!!!!!!!!! Good Luck!!!!!

Well don't know if I'd go so far as to say smooth. That racing trot can be prety awful but fun! Baby is just beginning to understand to engage her hind quarters and gave me a prety nice slow jog last night. Still working on the canter I can usually get one good gallop out of a trail ride. After that she sort of falls apart on me. Slow but sure we are improving. Whiskey took a long time too but it happened so long ago that I mostlyu remember him when he was really good.
Discoevred I really need to work on her hip over and move more off my leg. She moves off it to steer but to leg yeild is not there. Took it for granted for so long. I could get Whiskey to half pass down the street at a foxtrot. Big difference between a hors you've ridden 22 years and one you've ridden 2 years.

Ya surprisingly some have an incredible "floaty" trot then the next one you have to hang on for dear life for their bouncy trot. The pace is generally smooth if you can keep them slow. Some will foxtrot and thats just like heaven! And they all generally have a really nice canter. Keep working on it Asfaloth one day the light will just come on and she'll have it down pat!
