I should get some pics of my Standardbred mare on here! Wow I can't believe how far my original thread has gone - I didn't realize there were so many fellow STB lovers out there, this is great!!

There is one problem with determining if STB's are really STB's (if they aren't registered) they are a mish mash of a lot of breeds so some will take on different characteristics. My mare is very QH type, a lot are more TB looking (they kind of have the greyhoud look, lean, tall etc...), I'm a volunteer for the Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society and I visit adoptive families and their horses to make sure things are working well, anyhow last night the gelding I had to go and check in on was REALLY Morgan type (if you didn't know better you may have thought he was morgan). When you have been around them long enough you can pick them out of a pasture full of other horses no problem (I have been blessed with that gift! lol).

But generally they do have a square head, their eyes (when looking at them straight on) are set far apart (apparently thats what makes them so smart) and they have a really "doe" eye - very big and soft and intelligent looking. They have a long shoulder and generally shorter legs and body. Their hind end is smaller and slopes down (more sharply than a TB or QH) this is because they get all of the power for their natural gaits from their shoulders.
Get some pics - especially of the head, and let us take a peek.

Certianly looks at least part STB. I have seen one that I swore was an arabian but was told she was purebred STB and racing!

Anyhow I finally got those pics of Baby. So here she is!

Baby is for sure STB, she looks a lot like my mare (except my mare is Chestunt, I WILL get some pics on here for all of you to see).
There is a possibility Ringo could be full STB, he looks very simmilar to my friends STB (she doesn't look really like a typical STB at all but she is registered and has raced so she has to be)

Hmm... I don't really like the typical standard bred (big head and skinny neck) but if I could just get some pictures of this pure standard bred at my old stable that didn't look like a standard bred at all (to me) lol.

Cool

OK here are some pics of Belle and just a couple of her foal Admiral Boom aka. Boomer(she had him last June 28th so he is almost a year old now!), I'll try to get some recent pics of them on ASAP. Belle is 100% STB, and Boom is a STB/QH, I don't have Belle's papers and I was afraid of line breeding if I bred her to a STB.

I've just realized you are going to have to copy and paste these into your address bar at the top of your internet scren...sorry I'll try to figure out how to put them in thumbnails

Just Boom (only a couple hours old)

Sorry I'm not sure how to add thumbnails... but there is a few, hopefully I'll be able to get some on tonight - going to be an easy night after doing hay the past few days

To put thumbnails in your posts, click GO ADVANCED and you can add pictures by clicking Manage atachments at the bottom of the screen.

Baby is for sure 100% STB registered name Simply Noble. She raced until she was 5 when she blew out her right front tendon and her owner decided to place her into the adoption program. The owner really liked her and though she could have been a great broodmare (she was winning races and making money) she wanted her to have a good life. Her sire Nobleand Sam is in the Ohio racing hall of fame.

Wow this is so cool that so many people own and like Standardbreds. I absolutly love them too, their calm and willing nature, always ready to do anything for you. My first and only horse is a STB. I got him about 4 years ago on my birthday, right away when I saw him I knew I wanted him. He is totally bomb proof and such a sweety. I think he definetly looks like a STB, the roman nose, long neck, kind eye. I'll attach some pictures of him. When I am older I am definetly going to look into adopting one.

I also own a STB mare, named Shalimar Shaw, she is a 15.2hh bay mare. "Star" I love to death, and have now owned for a total of 4 years. She is very sweet, and I am always getting comments on her, she has a nice trot, and is incredably smooth. She carries he head medium low, she has had ALOT of training before I bought her, she is off the track, or I have been told by her previous owners that she at one point raced. She has none of the issues that I have seen in other off the track horses, she was trained pretty well! She is also the QH looking type, has big hips! lol Here are some pictures of her, she turned 20 years old on May the 25th!
