This might me too, but I have a heck of a time judging a horse in that angle Who is he? (I think he has a cute, inquisitive head too |

i couldnt judge that horse's "wow" factor from that picture its not good to judge conformation and movement from. A horse with true wow factor has near perfect conformation, temperament and movement for WHAT YOU WANT TO DO. No point breeding a stunning dressage stallion to you QH mare and expecting to get a western pleasure horse because "thats what mom did" Theres the old fashioned wow factor that is purely flash, nothing to do with technical merit, and that shouldnt be bred for. A sound quality horse is what you want when you breed, and if you want a winner it needs "wow" as well. I must admit i hold paper "wow" in very little regard, means not a jot to me who the horse has on its papers as long as it is good at what it does and looks the part confo and movement wise.

I see stallion "wow" as just advertising. granted, I would never breed to a stallion because of looking "wow". You have to admit, if you are flipping thru the magazine, there are a couple horses that jump out and say "wow". But when you take other factors into consideration, you may change your mind. I also agree that performance, conformation (some horses look nice, but still have bad confo points), pedigree (for marketablitly, a lot people look to buy because of pedigree) and also most importantly you breed to improve, i.e your mare and stallions weaknesses/strengths. I would say no to this stallion, although he **looks** like the old ranch bred type QH, many cutting/reining horses have this look, If they have a great performance pedigree, that might change my mind. |

haven been breeding for sport horses, of course with this stallion I see no "wow factor" but Im also a dressage ridder, and like to be able to event on my dressage horeses. I look for overal comformation, and with that comformation how they move, looking at my mare she has a long back, and is a little down hill, but then you see her move, and she can collect her self better than I've seen comformationaly corect horses. She has large gaskins, which seem to help with her impulsion, and she has an arab float. There is an OTTB at our barn 18 yrs old, looking at him you wounder how he can even move... but he compeated only a year or two ago in 2nd level dressage taking home blues and scoring in the high 60's to mid 70's. Grant it I would never breed to a horse that poorly conformationaly put together, but it doesnt change the fact that he can move! But the most importent thing I've found when breeding horses is there hoofs, with out good feet you wont have a horse to even ride or use for any thing logical. To me the best halter horses are the ones who can preform too!

For example, this boy that I'm probably breeding Expressa to has the "wow" factor to me. http://www.equinetexas.com/TripleDash.htm For someone else who is not interested in breeding to get a barrel/speed horse they might be unimpressed. But for me he has the wow b/c... 1. Has the build/height that I like 2. He has the proven pedigree... I mean he is a son of Dash For Cash (thats a huge wow for me since I'm such a fan of DFC horses) 3. Although unraced b/c of an injury he is a proven AA, AAA, & AAAT producer. His foals have proven themselves in the arena and on the track. 4. Now I still have to meet him in person but from what I hear he has a great disposition... I will still have to wait until I see him in person to judge that & make my final decision.

Wow... I need to lay off the Big Macs.... he is very handsome, built like a tank! A stallion for whatever horse pursuit tickles your fancy should (IMO) personify all exceptional qualities of that breed or sport. Pedigree would be a big factor, especially when deciding between two studs that visually WOW'ed you, - In the end conformation and bloodlines aside...it probably is a very unique phenomena....to be WOW'ed by one set of fuzzy plums over another- like preferring blue collar men, green eyes, or large hands and feet

They need to take a better picture and with him groomed and in shape. I do like his WOW ears though!! The black horse has the WOW factor going on.
