stallion not doing the deed

ok so as some of you know i work with a section A welsh stallion. well for the past couple of weeks ivbeen MIA at the yard as iv had a relationship breakdown that led me to staying at my moms in another place.

yesterday i get a phone call from said stallion owner telling me that the section A went on an unsucessful covering holiday, he said he was ment to have been spending a couple of weeks with a proffesional driving trainer whom wanted her section A mare covering.

they arrived at the location and aston had traveled for around 2 hours. the woman wanted him to serve the mare right away as she didnt feel comftable trying a breeding after the owner had left. (this rang warning bells in my head straight away) so they gets aston off the wagon and proceed to tease the mare. the mare was receptive and the breeding was to go ahead.

aston mounted the mare but as some mares do she shot forward and the lady LET GO .

so they tried again but by now the stallion was worked up and could not ermmm how can i put this ENTER. he had flared out at the end as they do and could not get it bk in again . so he got frustrated and started nipping at the mares hocks. by this time the lady is ******** out and tells him to put the stallion bk on the wagon and to take him home. and she wouldnt even pay him the petrol money or any of the agreed fees

normaly my yard owner would not let the stallion leave the yard and mares would come to us. but as im not there at the moment and this lady supposedly had a good name in training and handling he thought it would be a good soloution whilst im away. thankfuly im going bk tomorrow

that lady need to give her head a shake. The poor guy just had a two hour haul, was the mare teased for a proper amount of time? everything sounded very rushed. A stallion shouldn't be aloud to ENTER a mare while he is " saucered " sounds like you guys need to slow things down a bit and the stud will figure it out. Try putting the mare infront of a fence so she can't leap forward.

Sounds like you need to be there to stop things going wrong. I wouldnt worry, the lady was obviously an idiot, there's nothing wrong with your stallion that a rest and being on home turf with an experienced team wont fix.

unfortunately this only happened because i wasnt there. im around 70 miles away from the yard at present due to my relationship breakdown, so i didnt get to oversee any of the events and the stallion would not have even left the yard if i was able to be around. my yard owner is an ageing man with some health problems so he thought that the stud being away would be a good solution, already having 2 larger welsh stallions on the yard to contend with he just didnt realise that the woman was as inexperianced with breeding as she came highly recommended. i dont think things were rushed but as i said i wasnt there
