Spinning 'round in circles, in circles......

ok....
i'm trying to teach my mum about horses and where is the best place to start? groundwork!!!
so i got my horse on a lunge line and showed her the basics, then i let her have a go. but when he started walking around (in circles of course!) my mum started to get really dizzy!
i told her to focus on him and not on the spinning scenery but no improvment. she started wobbling and i was scared that she was going to tip over so that was the end of that.....
so i have never had a problem as long as i focus on the horse. so how do dizzy people do ground work?!?!?

I have trouble with getting dizzy too, I can only spin in so many circles, lol. I just do lots of direction changes with the horse. When I start to feel like I'm about to get dizzy, I ask the horse to go the other way for awhile.

Spins are the best part of reining, IMHO... lol!! The first time I sat a spin on a reiner.. um... I almost puked! That is a serious vertigo check, but then you learn how to not get dizzy and all is good. Maybe your mom should learn how to sit on a horse in a straight line first...

If she starts to get dizzy she should focus on a solid object away from the horse for a few seconds, then go back to the horse who is still moving.

I gather your mom is standing on the ground and not sitting on the horse. Simple, when I lunge my gelding, I stand still and send him and he walks around me. I don't move. LOL
