Spin off of "Sabino Arabians" - SPLASH ARABIANS?

Hey Gang - on another forum, a color expert is vehemently DENYING that Splash exists in Arabians. Saying that any of the chromed-out Khemosabi line horses are NOT SPLASH??

Why do some Arabian folks say there is no Splash? I don't get it?? Is this a common feeling?

Do they just think sabino-only for all these obviously splash/sabino Arabians?

I was just stunned and I didn't bother argueing with this person because they were the "color expert" (and actually did seem VERY knowledgeable on color genetics) yet said "ABSOLUTELY NO SPLASH IN ARABIANS"??!!

what gives? Those horses are splash/sabino, right?!!!

Yes they ARE splash....arabian people like to deny it because they refuse to accept white in their breed. They are wrong. Plain and simply wrong.

If they don't think he is enough then they had better scope out his Daddy. Khartoon is splash if I've ever seen one.

Thank you!!

I knew they were splash, but I was stunned that this "color guru" absolutely DENIED that they were.

I guess there is a faction in the Arabian world who refuse to believe splash exists? I just didn't know that.

Funny - we recently "discovered" Splash in Morgans, and thank goodness we don't really have any "anti-Splash" beliefs. Morgans are traditionally even more "color biased" than the Arabian world. And yes, there are Morgan folk who believe there "shouldn't be chromed-out Morgans"

But still - at least everyone knows the dilution and white pattern genes EXIST and cause what we are seeing

RMT and JB - go to COTH and read the "Sabino Info" thread under SH Breeding.... You can post that lovely SPLASH ARABIAN for me

Some Arab breeders think loud white of any kind is proof of impurity of blood - that notion took hold many decades ago and a lot of fine horses were culled because of it. The Arabs in the Middle East have the markings they have. White belly spots and flashy white are just part of the breed. Records exists of "parti-color mares" given as tribute. Frankly, whatever color a purebred horse is must be in the breed somewhere. There is debate about the roan and the white Arabs - neither are supposed to happen.

I read a wonderful article about Arabian Roan and am saddened that such horses are rarely registered. There is a white mare in my guys pedigree - her papers were pulled when it was determined that she was a true white. Rare colors happen - rarely. I am glad that now, with DNA, if a foal of a rare color is born that foal can be verified and should be registered. The only eligibility requirement has been and should be descent from registered parents.
