Yeah that's too far for Spacely and Glenhill and Gray Fox. They are closer to the capital.

My oh-so-interesting () brown mare is within reasonable driving distance from Los Alamitos

Awesome, awesome pictures as usual. Madison's story breaks my heart Maybe I missed it, but does Gatsby have a new home lined up already?

No... lots of interest in the boy but no deposit on him yet.

Since this is all on here I'm not going to start a new thread but use this one to seek some advice. When Madison goes home, would you make a point of saying ... btw, notice that her hip bones and spine no longer stand out. I've put about 300lbs on the mare, it's been a long haul, so you may want to keep an eye on her that she doesn't lose it again. Or something to that effect but more tactfully. Or are my odds that it would be falling on deaf ears and she'd just get p.o.ed and it wouldn't make any difference and then I'd never get her back to rebreed her or buy her or or or... *sigh* I know there is no point in even trying to get into the importance of a regular deworming program or not yanking her nose and/or upper gum off.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Oh yeah, way too far. You'll be like 6-8 hrs south. Glenhill, Gray Fox & I are all near San Francisco. They are north of SF, I am south. Bummer.

SE, I'd make a point of telling her what you mentioned. It may very well fall on deaf ears, but you can't say you didn't try. I'd also check back in with her in the spring to see how riding is going. If the mare still isn't rideable, she may reconsider that 60K price tag....it won't hurt to ask at any rate.

I think the other biggest problem with Madison's owner is that her hubby passed away last year. I think he left her *comfortably* so she really doesnt need to sell anything. The price is the price. Take it or leave it and she really doesnt care if you, me or anyone else thinks the price is WAY high or even insane. You dont agree with it, dont buy the mare and it wont matter one whit if the mare is leaping and plunging when she is ridden either. The price is the price

Her being "comfortable" makes it more sad to me. If she isn't hurting for money, there is no reason that poor mare should be thin and eating nasty hay....
