SE, that's really sad. Poor girl. I remember her as a baby. She won't negotiate down to a reasonable price with you? The training is useless if the mare is unrideable anyway. Is this a QH or Paint barn? Just curious. The description fits what I've seen in those barns.

Oh you're good. Both.
And since Madison has her APHA papers as well, it was a major tick off that she totally blew getting points on her as a 2 year old.

What a nut. 60K is outrageous, especially since she's fried her to the point she's unrideable.

I've seen some really horrible stuff from QH & APHA trainers around here & your description wasn't far off.

SE didnt even get into the worst of it with poor Madison ...

When she came here to be bred last year, her owner sent the hay with her that she was to be fed. I am not sure if you would call it light brown in colour or dark yellow but no matter - GREEN it was not. You see buying the hay from 2008 in 2009 was CHEAPER than buying the current year's hay crop. Heck - in a lot of cases the farmers were happy to give it to you for FREE!!

I took one look at that garbage, took it out back and burned it and fed her decent stuff while she was here

And yeah - she came in and left with a chain over her nose. While she was here she was led around with a cotton rope and that was it ...

I don't really blame the QH & Paint influence on much except the fact that this horse is a monster child compared to everything over there. So I kept hearing that she matured to 17 or 17.1hh. I'm pretty good at eyeballing height accurately and when I saw her I thought "No way.. 16.2" (she's 16.2 and a half ). Her hubby was the guy into the QH and Paints and he seemed to be a pretty low key, sensible type. She claims her background is dressage - Madison was to be her future superstar in the dressage ring - and she constantly says that the way she does things is how she was taught by a particular superstar dressage rider.

Said superstar rider happens to be a customer of mine and freaks that she is linking his name with this behaviour. He doesn't remember her (she was a student 20 years ago) and he doesn't even have to say that he doesn't do things in that way. I see his barn, know his staff and see his spectacular well fed, sound minded, olympic level horses.

She paid good money for this mare so I just don't understand. When she came over I asked about her deworming schedule and was told she's coming up due because she deworms in January and June. Huh? Well she's been done more here (MY schedule) and although I was told she needed to come and hold the horse when being trimmed after the first time my farrier asked that she please not be told. When I hold her she almost dozes when being trimmed, when she does, every yank on that chain, the mare tenses and jerks her footand jerks the farrier. So I've been sneaking my farrier in. It's such a shame.

She thinks that by giving her the time off to be pregnant and have the foal will be all she needs to get her back into riding mode. So she'll start doing again what she did before... I just hope Madison can handle it mentally at this age (5) and everything will be ok. She is a good rider, it's just all the other stuff....

Sorry for the novel but I did want to try and explain, I think it's a woman with a screw loose and has very little or nothing to do with the Western and/or QH and Paint way of doing things other than as mentioned - size - and also the lack of groceries (14.2 vs 16.2).

Who's American Iris? Did I miss a thread. I've been gone for a little while so may have missed a mare update or something.

I know GG is dirty. But the new pics you have ACC. He's so roundy and I love how he is put together. I really like him from these photos. Grime doesn't scare me away. I know it's so hard to get the horse out, get them cleaned up, get promotable photos. I'm glad you shared all these pics with us. Is the blondey TCF herself with Puchi?

I don't know who anybody people wise is.. agh. lol.

I'm racking my brain with the.. well this horse is out of this one and this one, can't remember if the sire is GG or not, ummm who was this one again?

SE, thanks for the explanation. Seems it's just one nut, not a whole bag of nuts. Poor girl. I really hope she can handle the "challenges" this time.

Bodi, the thread on American Iris is here: My new mare ...

The palomino filly is the '09 GG x Puchi Trap. She's the only GG foal on the farm at present.

The person holding Trap and Blondie is Donna. The man walking GG is my husband. I'm not in any of course. Special Effects was leading in Pearlescent. I don't think my mom made it into any photos (she's very good about staying AWAY from cameras ).
