| Senior Member+ | Some questions... Hmm... I am not really in the loop for showing quite yet, this will be my first year of doing anything serious with Beau. So I do have some questions. 1.) The first show of the season, for me, I would be entered in Limit Hunters with my Appendix Gelding, Beau. How competitive is this class at a A, or B rated show? 2.) I heard someone saying in my barn the other day, that last year a QH in our barn never placed, and everyone said it was because he was a QH, not because he didn't have the talent... would anything like that happen to an appedix? I know they are looking for the whole WB, TB look, but he looks pretty TB to me... here is a pic. 3.) ANY extra tips, like anything at all?

| Senior Member+ | If you are still getting into the swing of showing, I would definitley start out at smaller shows around your area. The A and B circuit are both pretty competitive.. not to mention expensive! & For your second question, it really just depends on the judge.. it's just personal preference. Some judges only place QH's, and some won't place them at all. Beau is so handsome.. you will do great. Good luck!

I agree with you, on the smaller shows. I hope to lots of them. They are the best thing for Beau and I right now. But my trainer only does a few local shows, and goes to the bigger shows more often. I just started with this traine, my old trainer did the smaller shows all the time, and I enjoyed them.

| Senior Member+ | Pfft... my personal opinion is that a lot of the time the people saying they were discriminated against because of the breed are sour grapes. If the horse REALLY has the talent, they -will- place. Beau will do fine. My QH never had a problem. |

| Senior Member+ | I agree, def hit the small shows for a while - if anything, stick to C rated. A and B are for big-time show-ers, local shows are for getting started. There will always be some discrimination against certain breeds, the only thing you can do is try your best and ignore the brats who think your (beautiful!) horse is not as good as theirs because he doesn't have the "in" breed; which, btw, will change often. Next - the only advice I have for you, is to HAVE FUN! Showing, especially in the first few years, should be all about FUN! So make it enjoyable and just have a good time. There's a time for competetiveness and meticulous-ness (lol i'm apparently making up a lot of words in this post!), but for now, def put having fun before everything! (well, that and safety!) Another good thing to do is do a search on "First show!" or "First Show Season" on here, and you'll get lots of great advice! And the #1 Rule, no matter what, is to.... GET PICS!!!!!!!!!!!
