Some possible WP horses for me*NEW ONES ADDED-POST #30*

Ok, since I have made the decision to sell Lexy, we have started the search for a WP horse. Here are a couple I have come across and CanadianSage's Monica is a possiblity as well.

http://www.dreamhorse.com/show_horse.php?form_horse_id=1171938 I like this one alot! I could show her in both APHA and AQHA

Any suggestions or comments?

I'm not a big stock horse WP fan, but in the first one the horse is carrying its head somewhat lower than I like. (Experts, isn't that slightly TOO low?)

#2. I'd definitely want some pics of her under saddle, but those pics make her back look rather long...

#3. And I thought the first one was bad?! This one looks as though her nose will hit the ground!! Definitely pass her up, unless you have the means to retrain her to carry herself properly.

Of the three I like one the best, although we need pics of two under saddle. I'd definitely pass up three.

ok from the adds (i wont comment on Monica as i can be quite biased LOL) these are my opinions:

Add #1 - totally worth what they are asking, VERY nice mare. I think she would be worth your money if she was the one you went with. Also, she is dual registered so could show both AQHA and APHA and see which one she is MORE competitive in...and that also gives you choices.

Add #2 - nice horse, something about it that doesn't feel right, but its still nice, good breeding, etc. Dont think you could go wrong with this one either.

Add#3 - I think this horse is overpriced. Compared to horse number 1...yeah not worth it I dont think. The first two are better than this one by far. To me, personally, not worth the money....and from the pic...VERY on the forehand from what I can tell. Also, they only give us "two wins"...how big were the classes? All-Breed or just the specific breed? Any points? etc. for a horse with that much, it better have points.....and more than two wins. Specially in this market.

Order in which I like them: Horse #1, Horse #2, Monica, Horse #3...my opinion COULD change on where Monica stands once I go ride her again sometime when the darn weather cooperates.

As for the first ones head being too low, its only in ONE picture, its not too hard to train a horse to pick its head up a bit...Monica likes to carry hers LOW LOW LOW, and it only really took a month to bring it back UP to where it really needs to go.

I would rather take a horse that carries its head to low, than one that carries it way up in the air.

If you look at the ad, there are some pictures with Bowtie Annie under saddle and there is a link to a video.

And while they are getting somewhat away from the "peanut rollers" at the breed shows neither one of those horses are too low at least not what my trainer says. My trainer really likes the first 2 and REALLY likes the way #2 moves but we haven't gotten the video of #1 yet.

I like #1 too for the same reasons you have listed. While #2 is nice, I keep asking myself why is she priced lower? She can do halter too and apparently has done well in it. #3 is definitely price negociatable (sp). They are not very good pictures to judge by but I am certain I could get the price quite a bit lower but I still am liking #1 right now.

I dont like #2's lope....jog is cute, but the lope needs work.

#1 would be the horse I suggest you go for. She has SHOWN at the APHA WOrld Show and has placed, she was used by a walk/trotter, and shes broke in various events. And well worth the money.

You also know what you are getting, and if you can afford the higher price tag, go for it!

I did look her up on APHA and she has 142 performance points in various events(and age groups: amature, novice amature, open, youth, novice youth), and 5 ROM's

BTW: horse number two might be priced lower because she has no show record.....

Tanya, I know the trainer that had (may still have) her in her barn. I can certainly find out more about her for you. Second mare... posty hocked and long backed. Third.. hard to tell from those photos.

What price range and what level do you want to compete at?

Really? Boy anything you could find out would be great! I was looking to not go over $15k but that is high end. I really want to be able to get to some larger breed shows in the next couple of years. Mostly in the SW. I don't mind something that still requires some finishing, but something with a good start since I already have 2 projects at home.
