Wow he is beautiful! Is he registered? If he isn't than he should definitely be gelded. If he is than at least any foals would be registrable.

As far as i know he does. :-( There were two other yearlings in with him. He has about 20-25 horses out there. Its so sad. Its really like horse he**. I'm sure the cremello mare that was about to foal has had her foal and is as skinny as he was now. Animal Control really sucks around here, I wish there was some way I could get them all out of there.

That stinks about animal control, but at least he got a second chance. He is beautiful! What did you guys do to get him so nice so quick?

regarding horse starver and crappy animal control

Look online or ask around for a horse rescue in your state or area and send the pick of him, (skinny) telling them about the situation and try to get them to help as surely some horses there will not survive and if they do what is the quality of life? The folks at horse rescues are good advocates for starving horses and know the legalities involved with animal seizure. They know how to 'motivate' law enforcement when necessary to help horses in need. Try and try again until you are satisfied that you did all you could for them, they deserve it and you deserve the peace of mind too. Best of luck.

We got his vaccs done and coggins pulled, feet trimmed (they were terrible!), and teeth floated (they weren't bad tho). Other than that, we just fed him. :-) Like I said its amazing what a few groceries will do for a horse.

horse rescues in North Carolina

I have posted some links to horse rescue organizations below. Please contact them about the starving horses. The addresses are to their webpages which should lead to the email and or phone numbers you can call to report horse neglect or abuse. If they are not close to you call anyway, rescues will travel to save horses. If one says no for any reason try another. It will be worth your effort. Thanks.
