So what is this....?

My guy has had it on both his back feet for a while... HOW it gets there I have NO clue.. But it's normally scabs, though sometimes he'll come in with it bleeding.....

So any ideas?

That looks like some very severe rain rot.

That's what I thought at first.....
But i've treated it for rain rot multiple ways... It's more like scabs and wounds then rain-rot...

It popped up when it was extremely muddy and seemed to clear up when I was keeping him inside mostly.. But i'll scrub it clean and treat it again and see if that does any good...

It just didn't seem like typical rain-rot to me..

How have you treated it?

If it's been like this for any amount of time, it's time for a skin scraping by the vet.

At first I thought he was itching it but then I realized that's impossible with a few moments....

I've tried anti-fungal shampoos, MTG, letting it air out and keeping it try, washing it with iodine, betadine, regular soap...

Reason I thought it wasn't rain-rot is that it never presented itself in the smaller scaps/bump that most rain-rot presents itself in..

Has it gone away and reappeared? Or just been there in varying stages of scab/open/etc...?

How long has it been there?

Completely gone away? No, but it comes and goes.. I've been putting boots on him at night and it's getting better.. Most days there are scabs but every so often he will come in with parts of it bleeding.... It's on both back legs and is confusing the heck outta me...

It's been there for maybe 2/3 weeks... He's not lame, but he is ouchy to the touch...

Not deep, superficial and ranges from his knee downwards but only on the inside..

I'd be calling a vet. Maybe someone else will have more ideas.

More pictures... These are older-ish

Those two pictures WERE before I had cleaned it that day...

It's really not any different from what he has on the rest of his body by itching mainly chest and what not... He has extremely itchy skin and wll itch like crazy in the heat which is why I wasn't concerned with it at first... I have to get the vet out in the next few weeks for coggins so I will ask him then.

Is there ever any heat or swelling in the legs?
