The only thing I did for my girl when I first got her ( she was SO skinny!!) was put her on plenty of sweatfeed with a scoop of hard keeper. I had a mineral block for her and plenty of hay. She put the weight on really fast! She looks great now!

This is true. I had one who would not keep weight on without eating like an elephant and he wasn't even that huge of a horse LOL But something to be careful of for the OP, if you choose a complete feed, then supplement vitamins and use a weight building product you could actually very easily over supplement if you feed the recommended amount of complete feed. If you give their digestive system too much at one time, be it of vitamins, fat, etc it could actually pass to the hindgut without being properly digested and you can end up with more problems and a horse who continually is hard to keep up. Just a heads up, I learned that recently so wanted to share = )

Okay..this is what she is on right now:

1 cup of BOSS
1 cup of rice bran
1 cup of alfalfa pellets
2 cups of Purina Enrich 32
dash of salt
dash of ACV
20lb. of grass/alfalfa
free choice grass hay
approx. 3 hours of grazing on green pasture.

Maybe the runny eye is a blocked tear duct. My mare had one a few years ago and ran all the way down here face.
