   | Smokey Cream filly (quad homozygous)!!! I mentioned her to you guys on another thread, but her color is official now. She is EE aa CrCr ToTo (and might be dun, test pending). Her test results:  She is owned by Spirit Wins Farm: http://spiritwinsfarm.com/ Sire is a smokey grullo HZ tobi: http://www.spiritwinsfarm.com/stallions_jack.html Dam is a buckskin tobiano (Foxy): http://www.spiritwinsfarm.com/mares.html Meet Vixen: Still wet and blinky:  Starting to dry:  Her blue eyes (or a reflection anyhoo):  Dry and with some sunlight:  Close up of her color:  Outside:    I think she is just a peach!!! Spirit Wins is not far from me here in Kentucky and I am hoping we will arrange for me to get some photos of the little one at least. How cool is she? Color calculator (with parents actual genotypes) gave a 0.7813% chance of her turning out this genotype. Talk about lucky! I suspect they will be retaining her.  Does anyone know of another like her genetically? I am still anxiously awaiting results of the possible smokey cream dun but haven't seen Jennifer online lately. Oh and Spirit Wins says Vixen WILL be the first smokey cream registered with APHA... she will make sure of it!!! LOL ACC |

| Senior Member | Look at all that white! Shes absolulty beautiful. I have another question. I thought that if they had white on the face its from a sabino gene and she tested negitive for this??

| Smokey cream is a double dilute cream on a black base. Ie, a cremello is homozygous cream (CrCr) on a red base (ee), perlino is homozygous cream (CrCr) on a bay base (E_ A_), and smokey cream is homozygous cream on a black base (E_ aa). She tested negative for sabino ONE. There are many different strains (actually called mutations) of sabino and so far we can only test for mutation one. Just because she is negative for one does not mean she is not sabino. IMO she probably is some form of sabino and could possibly be splash. ACC |
