| Senior Member+  | Sleep Paralysis ?
I know you guys probably thought this fruitcake couldn't get any fruitier  but.....Has anyone every had a dose of "Sleep Paralysis" ? Which is when you wake up from sleep to find you cannot move your body but your eyes are open.... From what I hear this is VERY, VERY frightening and no-one has said anything good about it... The feeling of an EVIL presence in your room only you can't move your body to escape.. This happen when you are stressed out and your body is worn out from maybe excess study, work or marriage problems, it can also be a sleeping disorder... It hasn't happened to me because I really don't get stressed out much so I'm telling the people that don't know about this not to worry if it happen because you are not alone... I don't think many people tell their friends they woke up and couldn't move because it sounds ridiculous, so they keep it a secret... I found this a very interesting subject and checked it out and this happens all around the world and each country has a different entity to explain it.. In the US it's called "Old Hag", a witch sitting on your chest, in China they say it's a "Tiger" sitting on your chest, in Japan they say it's a "Ghost" sitting on your chest.. The science world says when you go to sleep your brain releases a chemical to stop your body moving in your dreams and when you are fatigued the brain releases too much and your wake up before your body... They cannot explain the evil hallucinations or deafening noises that come with this and I what science world says is true.... I've heard of sleep paralysis before, I could imagine it would be a terrifying thing to experience!!

not at all...it is a true thing...i have had it happen to me a couple of times...the first time it happened i was terrified...it is a very disturbing experience when you cant move anything on your body when you know you should be able too...it has happened to me 4 times so far...everytime i was able to start movin my limbs after about 45 minutes...you just have to wait for everything to wake up and catch up with you Quote:

I have a re-occurring nightmare where someone or something is pulling me down into my bed and I cannot move or scream or do anything.... then in my dream...I "dream" that I wake up and it is still happening... finally I wake up but I am able to move. Not the same thing...but pretty creepy nonetheless!

I had this problem last week. I was sleeping, and I needed to get up to go to the bathroom, and let the cat in. I could not for the life of me move any limb of my body. At all. No matter how hard I tried, nothing would move. I haven't had any other episodes, and I really hope that I don't; it was scary.
